I may be biased as I normally don't like the romance genre, but this was one of the worst books I've ever read. I'm normally a Jaqueline fan, but this book was just a heap of predictable endings and cringy moments. I wanted to slap the snivelling main character Sylvie, who was about as interesting as a dish towel. The 'plot twist' was coming from a mile on- I realised it just a chapter in. Honestly, I'm surprised <del>dish towel </del>Sylvie didn't catch on. She'd been his best friend since forever! Oh well. I would definitely NOT recommend this book.

★★★★☆ Have you ever purposely avoided a book for a long time, only to find out it’s actually great once you’ve read it?Well, that’s what happened to me with Fangirl. I had originally thought it would be a typical teenage John Green-esque book where the nerdy main character goes on this crazy adventure and meets this unique (and attractive) person who they subsequently fall in love with. Sound familiar?Fangirl was actually different from what I had expected. It follows the life of Cather (or Cath, as she likes to be known) and her twin sister Wren while they go through uni together. While Cath wants to stay in her shell and write fanfic all day, Wren wants to party and detach from her twin sister. I won’t spoil the book as it’s really good and I recommend people to read it.The only thing that stopped me from giving this five stars is how Rowell portrays Wren. Even though we were supposed to like her, I found Wren very irritating and I was glad when she finally got punished. In one of the scenes, Wren texts her sister ‘Emergency.’ I won’t spoil it, but lets just say it wasn’t and emergency, and Wren had texted ‘the wrong C’, as Wren had meant it for her friend, Courtney. Aaargh. I wanted to tear my hair out at this part. Anyway, I still really liked this book, and even though it was romantic, it was a lot better than KISS.

Ghosts is an amazing book. Don’t fight me about it. It really is.

If you’ve ever watched The Book of Life, you probably know about the Mexican life after death, but Ghosts explained even more about this.

I’m not going to explain the plot in detail as I don’t want to bore you, but instead I’ll say why I like it so much.
I liked it the same reason I liked Smile - because of the graphics. I found the artwork and colour just so interesting to read. I also liked how it was incorporating other people's cultures into the storyline. I also loved how the characters were so diverse- Cat (the main character, not the animal) 's best friends were Korean and African American. Cat herself is half Hispanic and half Caucasian. What's not to love?
