On September 2nd, 1945, the president Hồ Chí Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Đình Square, Hà Nội. By doing this, he officially declared Việt Nam's independence from the French colonial rule.

On April 30, 1975, the great spring victory completely defeated the American imperialists' war of aggression and neo-colonial domination in the South, completely liberating the South, gloriously ending the longest, most difficult and greatest war of national salvation in the history of our people's resistance against foreign invaders.
