In 2000, my parents, younger brother, and I moved to Winston-Salem, NC. I went to middle school, high school, and college in Winston-Salem. My alma mater is Wake Forest University. My major was in English, and I minored in Journalism. While at WFU, I was a staff writer, section editor, and managing editor for the university's student newspaper, the Old Gold and Black. I also volunteered for the university's radio station, WAKEradio. After I graduated in May of 2011, I worked in Winston-Salem for another year then made my way to Philadelphia in July of 2012. I met a special someone named Nick Halloween weekend 2011 in Asheville, NC. He was living in Philly and made the decision moving here pretty easy. We are married with 3 cats and live in a South Philly rowhome near East Passyunk Avenue. Since then, I have freelance wrote for a music publication, worked at a bakery, worked at a 100+ year old cookware store in the Italian Market, and been a cookware demo person for a sales company. However, since 2014, I have been working in real estate title insurance. Around 2017 I started to get a little tired of the title insurance industry and spoke with a career counselor who encouraged me to look into counseling as my next career path. I applied for a volunteer position with the William Way LGBT Center's peer counseling program as a means for gaining some exposure and experience to see if counseling felt like a good fit. It sure did!
