Is a a number that either looks like _to_ or _:_ so if there is a picture there is a picture with 3 circles and 5 squares and I want to write the ratio of squares to the total of object on the picture I would write it like 5:8 or 
5 to 8 but if I want to write the ratio of squares to circles I would either write 5 to 3 or 5:3.
