Killers of the Flower Moon is a book written by David Grann about the murders in Osage County. Osage's were being murdered by David Hale and others in attempt to take their money, but a detective comes to town and solves it all. Through pathos, Grann, gets his audience behind the desire to see this mystery solved justly. And through logos, he appeals to the clear evidence on how did it, and that they should be punished.

In the book David Hale is introduced more as a good guy, as he is a rare white who appreciates the Osage. The author does this and really throws us for a loop when later we see Hale is the killer. It all made sense as to how he used the Osage connections to get their money at the end of the day.

Family Killings?? Tied In??

All the killings are tied in through family, and the help of Hale was coming from in laws. Interesting how Grann whittles this into the story, to gradually give Hale as a suspect because of the family tie in with the money funneling

Law Change

In a matter of a few years the way law is handled is completely changed. I hope I am not the only one who noticed because early on absolutely nothing was going on what so ever to solve this. But then suddenly one guy shows up and it's all solvable?? Like what a sudden flip, they couldn't have been trying very hard at the beginning. And then once they get to court, I mean all these changes go on but the jury winds up convicting the bad guys. Like, wow, what a change in how good investigating and law is enforced.

Is this the Wild West or the Modern USA?

The book was always in my mind the Wild West. Outlaws and Indians going at it. Tumbleweeds and sandy villages. But the more you really look into this, I think the setting is actual cities and towns. With cars and roads. And actual governments are in place. The Indians are more like the Americans in there culture. I think this is probably overlooked on how the time actually was

How this Stacks Up Today

A murder like this would not even dare be attempted today because of how hard it would be to get away with it. The complete change in detective work prevents so many things from occurring, and I think this investigation right here, was the corner stone for all of that. S/O White.

Jorge's Afterthoughts

After reading this all and putting these thoughts back on my mind, I misread this book. I pictured things as very broken down, and so much further back in time. It was a solid book, no doubt. The way it was played out surely kept me wondering who did it, despite the fact I knew who did it because of Gabe. It was a straight forward story, and didn't have many underlying messages, but looking back I now see interpreting this book was more of just revising my thoughts and notes over the book. Fantastic book. Jorge awards it 4/5 rating.

Taking the patient and proper route will always lead to the correct ending.

As the author laid out the whole scene everything white did took patience, and a build up of numerous evidence in order to properly draw a conclusion. Then he had to go through a less than equal jury, but yet by taking his best route, he convicted the true criminal.
