1~ Equality is recognising that, as human beings, we all have the same value. This means, we all have the same rights, we should all receive the same level of respect, and have the same access to opportunities.

2~Equality is one of the central principles of democracy within the United States. Additionally, equality is based on the belief that all people should have the same opportunities to be successful and have a productive life.

3~The Fourteenth Amendment promises that all persons in the United States shall enjoy the “equal protection of the laws.” This means that they cannot be discriminated against without good reason. All laws discriminate, because governments must make choices about what is lawful.

1) Majority Rule states that when a choice is being made between two or more options, the option with the most votes wins. This protects minority rights because it is limited, so the majority cannot silence the minorities.

2) Without the majorities and minorities, we would not have a two party system. Minority rights are important in democratic countries to prevent tyranny of the minority by the majority.

3) In the US, we split our government into Congress, Senate, The House of Reps., etc. So that everyone has a say, and the president does not have full power.
