Very briefly, Homer is a boy who grew up in an orphanage in St Clouds in the American state of Maine and has a great desire to see the world. He then hitches a ride with a couple who came to have an abortion at the orphanage and heads to other distant lands. There he goes to work picking apples and ends up falling in love with a beautiful woman, the same woman who gave him a ride.

Then, because her current husband has gone to war, they experience a great forbidden love, but this love soon ends when the husband soon returns home due to a serious vision accident which left him paraplegic.

Homer then receives a letter from the nurses at the orphanage saying that Dr Larch has died and that Homer needs to take his place. Homer then returns full of learning and willing to take the place that has always been his. Because from a young age, Dr Larch had already prepared Homer for this moment, he knew everything about obstetrics.

This book is a great British classic that addresses many themes, but all wrapped up in one main theme, which is ego. Dorian is a character who at first is presented to us as naive, simple and even with low self-esteem. But as the story progresses and the influence of the friends he makes, he gradually transforms into an extremely self-centered man. The story gives the impression of a beautiful and pure being being corrupted by the futility and bad influences of bad, envious and dirty people, to the point where Dorian becomes one of them, or rather, becomes the worst of them.

All of this is reflected in a painting in which a portrait of Dorian is painted. A painting that reflects all the beauty and youth of the boy at the beginning, but which also undergoes the process of corruption and in the end shows the true face of the character.

I always wanted to know the story of Madame Bovary and read this classic novel. But I confess that as I read it, I was unable to connect with any of the characters, as I felt no empathy for any of them.

Starting with Emma, ​​who seemed to me to be a woman who was dissatisfied with everything, because in my opinion she never fell in love with any of the men who passed through her life; what she loved was the idea of ​​living a romance.

Her husband, Charles Bovary, is a man completely devoid of his own opinion and we can see from the first pages that his life is always dictated by someone else, first his mother, then his wife. Charles was so blind to Emma that he never questioned any of her actions, faithfully believing everything she told him.

However, the characters' personalities do not hinder the greatness of the work, since Madame Bovary shows us the life of a person who forgot to live in the incessant search for what she did not have.

Blind to what surrounded her, Emma always quickly grew tired of what she had and dissatisfaction dominated her, leading her to seek what she did not have.

Madame Bovary is a thought-provoking and reflective novel, different from the love stories we are used to. It shows how our choices can affect the lives of other people, in the case of the book, the Bovary couple's daughter.

Well, Anne Elliot has lived with her father and older sister since she was very young.

She has always been sensible, thoughtful and saw society as it is: elitist and with little chance of improvement for those born into a lower class.

For those who have read the author's books, you know that she works a lot on the narrative part, where she describes thoughts, scenarios, and shapes the characters' personalities.

I confess that because of this, in my opinion, the reading is a little slow, because you end up having to pay attention to the details, to understand the story well.

I particularly like the way the author is ahead of her time.

The themes she portrays, such as politics, injustice, prejudice, and also love.

When reading the book, it is necessary to understand that it is not a period romance, but rather, a classic, which unlike the period romances published and written today, Jane's was written and portrays the reality of the time in which she herself lived.

I really liked the development of the story, the characters who were well developed, although I think that the romance itself took a while to unfold, but as I said, this is something normal for the time in which she lived and portrayed.

The ending was very beautiful, moving, and it was worth the wait, because it managed to move me, even though it wasn't exactly what I expected.
