Quote #1 "we were happy, and proud of ourselves and of the victory over ourselves" (Rand 26).

Reflect: Being happy for not getting what you want isn't normal human behavior. It's... just confusing to think that someone will want to not get what they desire, and by not getting what they desire, they get what they want. Everyone could have these thoughts, like a bad habit. Everyone has at least one bad habit, and if they're aware of it, they'll want to stop doing this habit, so everyone can relate to situation Equality is in. But if you stop to think about it, it gets really confusing.

Quote #2 " 'And if you are not needed by your brother men, there is no reason for you to burden the earth with your bodies' " (Rand 22).

Analyze/Evaluate: The Teachers are mean! Telling this to children that are 5 years old? Anyway, this quote shows that the society has no problem murdering those who are useless to the great "We." This is another way the World Council inflicts fear on the citizens. When writing, Rand must have been using her perspective on how Stalin felt about his people.
