-In the writing piece "Love And Other Ways Of Dying" by Michael Paterniti I liked the quote, "The northerly village, this place here of sixty people, the houses and fences and clotheslines, was set among solid rocks breaching from the earth.... By the weathered fishing shacks were rusted anchors like claws and broken traps and hills of coiled line". In the House on Mango Street I thought the author did a good job of representing the mindset of a child. I think what this author did well was include very good imagery and describing the environment. It did a good job including incredibly varied examples of different people's lives. It is very hard to say what constitutes good writing. Some people focus more on narrative and others may focus on describing the imagery. Good writing happens when it goes for a specific strategy and nails the execution. What makes good writing? 
I think that good writing evokes deep emotions within the reader, evidence, real or fabricated, that an author is telling the reader exactly how it feels to be in that situation.
