Aside from that, in those 15 years, the world and the classrooms in it have changed. When I was in school, the access to technology and information, the structure of a school day, and even the way my teachers got away with treating me has changed dramatically. A lot of that stays with a person, especially as it pertains to how they feel their class or teaching career should be run or operate. I wish my students knew that as I am teaching them, I am unlearning my past. I tend to be very hard on myself and feel like I'm not where I'm supposed to be at this stage in my life. I've faced some difficult life challenges and sometimes it's hard to get through them. All that being said, coming to work every day and seeing my students succeed gives me a sense of purpose.
