"Rose Golden" by Kid Cudi ft. Willow Smith

Kid Cudi is by far my all-time favorite artist, and this is my all-time favorite song. The keys in the production, the lyrics, Cudi's humming, and Willow Smith's gorgeous vocals combine to create an incredibly uplifting, beautiful song. It's about how those who have supported them throughout their lives helped their overcome obstacles to achieve their destiny. This song makes me feel like I'll be great one day, no matter the obstacles.

"No Rain" by Blind Melon

I actually discovered this song when it came on the speakers at my workplace, a car wash. My best friend Greyson (who works with me) and I agreed that it was the only good song that they played at our job. We started playing it every time we hung out, and this song represents our friendship. Beyond the connection with my friend, the song's message of feeling "insane" for being a laid-back hippie in post-modern capitalist society resonates with my own struggle to not equate my self-worth with my productivity as someone with ADHD.

"R.I.P." by Playboi Carti

This song has an almost unfathomable lack of depth, substance, and meaning, and I love it. This is my "forget about everything and go stupid" song. I play this song whenever I need to cut loose and just have fun, which is really important to me. I'm not even sure how to write 75 word about this track- it's just a song to get meaninglessly hype to, and it executes that very well.

"Cheeseburger in Paradise" by Jimmy Buffett

This was my favorite song for a long time as I grew up. My dad is pretty into music, and even though he's more into other styles of music (his favorite artists are REM, The Rolling Stones, and Cage the Elephant) he appreciates classic music across genres and years. Cheeseburger in Paradise definitely brings back memories of my childhood and spending time with my family, and the lighthearted subject matter helps conjure that nostalgia of being so carefree.

"love." by Kid Cudi

This is an unreleased song by Kid Cudi, so you can only find it on sites like Soundcloud and Youtube. It was never finished, and it's just the same verse and chorus repeated three times. But man, this song just speaks to me in a way no other song has. This song has gotten me through some really rough breakups and low points in general. It isn't particularly complex lyrically, but it's a song that feels like it was written specifically for me when I'm going through hard times. It's a beautiful, powerful song.
