Power can corrupt law because power can change and alter laws in order to benefit one group or to keep another group in the dirt. Power is highly connected to freedom of people, peace, and overall lifestyle. Power has corrupted the law with dictatorships like Nazi Germany, Russia, and Cuba and there are lost of documentations. As long as the power is corrupted, the law will be corrupted and you have to live in fear every day of your life.

Power can corrupt law when the purpose of serving the law becomes for the good of yourself rather than the people you serve This can be seen in the text when people were taken to jail without an arrest warrant and kept in prison for almost 20 years. This is a clear abuse of power and the effect of corrupt law that lets government authorities do what they please.

When a person has great power (like a person in the government or police force), this leads to an imbalance of equal rights if those with these high roles in society use their power for bad. In Burma, the government was so corrupted because people abused their power and it led to a revolt from citizens, so the government just got angrier, and instead of fixing the problem they abused their power more.

When a dictator is put in office and cares more about gaining power than leading in their citizens' interest they will corrupt the government. One example is the North Korean leaders who spread false propaganda to their citizens to keep them oblivious to what the outside world is like. That way they can rule however they want and maintain the loyalty and respect of the citizens.

Power corrupts the law at any point our political leaders decide they are more important. They may do this by pardoning others who have clearly done something wrong or by passing the laws themselves in order to accomplish something they want. "And do not be fooled if the people who turn up at the door, usually without

a warrant, say that they will only be keeping you for a few days. That could well translate into a twenty-year sentence."

Power corrupts the law when the interests of the people in power are to stay in power at any cost. This can cause a large amount of corruption because in the story people were arrested without a fair trial or any reason because the people in charge wanted to stay powerful and have complete control over others.

Power corrupts the law when someone abuses power over what is right. How this happens is in the example of how police officers treat civilians unjustly because they think they are superior. Abusion of power is shown when San Suu Kyi states, "When U Win Htein asked those who had come to take him away whether they had an arrest warrant, they replied that it was not necessary as charges had already been moved against him and his sentence had been decided. So much for the concept of the law that deems a person innocent until proven guilty." (san suu kyi, 3)

Power can corrupt the law when a person or group of people/organization has the power to change or surpass the law. The law is supposed to hold all accountable yet we see in foreign countries and even in our own times when people can simply ignore the law for their own personal gain. In fact, they can even change the law for these benefits if deemed powerful enough. However, this can be for better or for worst as people can band together to over-throw a tyrannous government or a countries citizens are exploited by unfair treatment and their protection of basic rights aren't supported by law.
