This is a canal close to where I live. It's not exactly what I can see from my window, but the canal had been quite famous, or infamous indeed, for its unpleasant smell in our neighbourhood. Some years ago certain construction work was done in the area, and the situation has greatly improved since then. At least the view is nice, with the help of the beautiful sunset.

It's just after 8am here in Dubai, and it's already 31°C. This is why we've got big sun shades and we've been cultivating a natural canopy - our curry tree, moringa and bougainvillea are all doing very nicely! It's going to hit 40°C this afternoon, so I'll be holed up indoors until early evening, when I'll be firing up the smoker peeping around the corner on the right!

There is greenery where I am. I would like to say serene and tranquil but there is a railway track to make a nice distraction...once in a while, in case I get too absorbed in the readings.

The building on the right is my House which I share with my family and 60 teenage boys. I live in Shrewsbury which is the birth place of Charles Darwin. As a biology teacher this is great! The view across the town over the river is very special.

Hi everyone, I’m Clare. I live by the Rochdale Canal (30m from Manchester) with my Austrian partner, Gabriel, and this photo shows the marina where we love spending time chatting with “gongoozlers” on their canal boats.

Professionally, I’m an educational assessor and consultant working in English further education, with a particular focus on apprenticeships and degreeships.
