Baptism occurs a few days after birth or if you're an adult you can still get baptized. The ceremony is an introduction to Christianity or Christian faith. A priest will use water as a symbol of spiritual purification and dump you into the water but if your’re catholic they will pour the water over your head. The god parents of the child have to be there to agree to be responsible of the child’s religious up bringing if anything happens to the parents. During the Baptism the baby often is given a name which is called christening.

Not all Christians believe in heaven, hell and purgatory but the belief in eternal life is common to all. A sacrament once named Extreme Unction, and now called the Last Rites or Anointing of the sick, is often given to gravely ill people. The ill person can ask someone for forgiveness for his or her sins, or if they are unable to do so, the minister does in his or her stead. Christian funerals vary throughout the whole world. In some countries , a wake, or period of mourning and prayer, precedes the funeral. Sometimes the persons body is displayed before burial or cremation.
