It didn't just form in a day, it only developed into a tropical cyclone on December 20th. Insured losses were estimated to top $655 million, with over 50 000 claims. Both Proserpine and Arlie Beach were without water and power for two or more days. The military ended up sending 1300 soldiers to assess damage and  help with clean-up. They teamed up to send drones which could provide emergency packages to isolated areas in need and assess damage and co-ordinate emergency responses.
