Griggs vs Duke Power co
This court case had to do with employment discrimination. In this case the Judge famously wrote "Congress has now provided that tests or criteria for employment or promotion may not provide equality of opportunity merely in the sense of the fabled offer of milk to the stork and the fox."
Heart of Atlanta Motel Inc. vs. United States
This case was particuarlarly unique amoung the others associated with the Civil rights Act. That being so because this case stated that Congress could use the power granted to it by the Constitution's Commerce Clause to force private buisnessess to abide by the Civil Right Act of 1964. This Civil Right Law affected the nation profoundly because it was the first time there was a law prohibiting discrimination in employment and business of public accommodation. From there the power of the right has only grown and changed the lives of many people.
