Module 1:

1.)	https://www.boundless.com/management/textbooks/boundless-management-textbook/organizational-structure-2/defining-organization-23/the-role-of-management-in-an-organization-141-4007/

This website made some excellent points in accordance with our module. The article provided a chart that added to my knowledge about management. It showed that management starts with planning then moves to organizing, directing, and controlling. So the article changed out influencing with directing; which I thought was interesting. But this website helped me get a better understanding of the textbook reading.

1.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f60dheI4ARg

This is a video of Steve Jobs discussing the management of Apple. He equates Apple to being structured to a startup company in that they don’t have committees but rather teams. This video was great because it was highly relevant to the discussion post. Steve Jobs says that his company cannot run on hierarchy, but rather great ideas. He says that him and the people at Apple have “wonderful arguments” discussing Apple.

2.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQKis2Cfpeo

This is another video of Steve Jobs going into highly pragmatic advice about how to manage people. He says a great leader is someone who drives the vision of the company rather than policing everyone. He says great people can manage themselves. Steve says that the best managers are people who don’t want to be managers, but rather promote themselves to that position out of necessity.

4.)

This cartoon resembles bad management because there is a lack of vision and direction in this situation. An employee wants to do the correct thing. The employee cannot make a steady course of action because they must get the “go ahead” from management; but management lacks continuity and direction. It seems to be the exact opposite of what Steve Jobs had envisioned as great man
agement.

Module 2:

1.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oqyrflOQFc

This video was incredible. It details how women in America are at the peak of freedom, equality, and tolerance amongst any nation anywhere at any time. Women have equal pay and equal opportunity to men. There are just a few presuppositions that people make to show that there isn’t wide spread equality.

2.)	https://thinkprogress.org/why-chick-fil-as-anti-lgbt-giving-is-still-a-problem-88634cd34a81#.fip6n4175
This module reminded me of the Chick fil A controversy back in 2012. This article shows the side of the LGBT community in the whole debacle. I personally think a company has the right to exercise any amount of freedom it wants on what it supports and doesn’t support, and ultimately the customers can stop purchasing there if they want. I think boycotts are totally reasonable and beautifully capitalist. This article lines up perfect with the module because it deals with diversity.

3.) https://www.forbes.com/sites/devinthorpe/2013/05/18/why-csr-the-benefits-of-corporate-social-responsibility-will-move-you-to-act/#4dd30ac765a3
This article is great because it comes straight from Forbes. I trust Forbes as a reliable source of business information. This article gives a practical view about companies enacting corporate social responsibility.

4.) I like this cartoon because it is making fun of the fact that some companies could care less about diversity. Some companies just embrace diversity to build up their reputation rather than expand their company.

1.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhvd96Gr1Rk
This video gave a great break down as to what a merger is, and what it is useful for. I also got a kick out of the accent. This helped me have a greater understand of the discussion we had this module about the Marriott merger.

2.)	https://www.engadget.com/2014/09/19/microsoft-buying-minecraft-explanation/

This is an article about how Microsoft bought out the Minecraft game and brand for $2.5 Billion. This is not technically a merger, but this module reminded me of this event. Microsoft came in and bought out the game Minecraft for a massive amount of money because of a tactical decision; just like the Marriott.

3.)	http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/07/20/revealed-the-biggest-companies-in-the-world-in-2016/
I was curious to what the biggest international company was in relation to this chapter. It turns out that Walmart is the largest company in the world with a revenue of about $500 billion. This is relevant to the module because its discussion international companies.

4.) I picked this cartoon because I think it encompasses a lot of what the climate is in America right now. There are a lot of companies moving out of America because it is cheaper for them to do so. So, companies pride themselves on being American but their products are not even made in America. I think a lot of companies that are American based would like to be in America, but they simply cannot exist with high tax rates and near infinite regulations.

1.)	http://www.huffingtonpost.com/the-daily-meal/the-biggest-failed-chain_b_3606162.html
This article was relevant to our SWOT assignment about In-N-Out burger. This article focuses on failed chain restaurants. This helped me put in perspective how In-N-Out burger could fail, and that just because it has several locations doesn’t mean it is invulnerable to failure.

2.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qujuFOOiwJk
This is a video of people doing a blind fold test tasting an In-N-Out burger vs a regular burger. All of them said an In-N-Out burger was worse, and that the burger is just “hype” rather than quality. I watched this just because I was curious how this burger tasted compared to what I normally eat.

3.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ux3pm6UfCo
This video was potentially one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while. The video is relevant to the module in that it is about decision making. The video details 4 biases that humans have that mess with our decision making. I benefited a lot from this video.

4.)	I chose this cartoon because it shows how we can dig into confirmation biases that don’t allow us to make good business decisions.

Module 5:
1.)	http://smallbusiness.chron.com/definitions-horizontal-vertical-organizations-23483.html
This article is relevant to our module because it gives detail as to what a horizontal and vertical organization looks like. While it looks like Apple is horizontal, a lot of major corporations are vertical.

2.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDFqEGI4QJ4
This video is a Ted Talk that discusses company culture. This is relevant to the discussion because it discusses culture inside of company. Organizational culture is very important to how a company runs and this ted talk breaks it down very well.

3.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMUSEYR80E8
This video was great because it discusses what effective communication looks like in a business situation.

4.) I chose this cartoon because it is a satire of accountability. The module discusses accountability and how organizations should be accountable to its employees and to the law. This cartoon makes fun of the fact that people are willing to take all the credit when things are going good.
1.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSo1AXEQRLE
This video details how a specific company goes about the process of seeking out positions for new companies. This is relevant to our module discussion on hiring out of house.

2.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpWAHWbpcxQ
This is a video detailing how humans are motivated intrinsically and extrinsically. This is relevant to Chapter 12 in our module about motivating and influencing.

3.)	https://www.villanovau.com/resources/hr/importance-of-job-satisfaction-in-the-workplace/
This website details how important job satisfaction is in the workplace. I considered this while I was making my employee satisfaction survey. I really enjoyed making the survey in the module, and felt like I had a personal connection to the idea of employee satisfaction.

4.) I chose this cartoon because I think it perfectly sums up why some companies just have massive turnover rates and people hate working there. I worked at music school and ended up quitting because the management would not listen to any suggestions I had, and ended up blaming me for speaking up about problems. This cartoon represents this very well.

Module 7:
1.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy2_75ckF0Q
This is a video about good leader traits vs bad leader traits. This video was relevant to our discussion on the horrible CEO of HP. I took a class called Biblical Leadership at Trinity Baptist College and the class really gave me a great concept of leadership.

2.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkEkLY6OWI8
This is a video of Carly Fiorina’s history at HP under scrutiny. I was thinking about her during this module because I saw her during the presidential race. I knew she was the CEO at HP and I always saw her talking about how she saved the company from massive collapse.

3.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U77b1XKAa5U
I chose this video because it was a great representation of what a oblivious leader is. Michael Scott from the office is horrible at his job motivating people. He seemed to peeve everyone in the office, but he had a heart to try and get to know everyone. He also treated one of his employees horrible named “toby.”

4.)	I chose this cartoon because it shows that leaders can be found in all shapes and sizes. Just because someone has a leadership role in one area doesn’t mean that it contains anything of substance. The least likely of leaders usually end up being the ones who get put in the situation because it needs to be done.

1.)	http://www.cebos.com/total-quality-management/the-top-five-quality-management-system-failures-of-all-time/
I chose this article because it shows five examples of products that had poor product quality control. I saw that the iPhone 4 was on this list, and I vividly remember my iPhone 4 having a lot of trouble.

2.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18cN8MZvJRA
This video is simple and nice. It gives me a nice overlay of what quality control is and how it is applied in practical situations. This is relevant to our Toyota discussion.

3.)	https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkJKjdbIuRg
I chose this video because it shows some horrible products. This is a top ten list for horrible shark tank products. The last one was a implanted Bluetooth device that is surgically attached to someone. It had zero quality and was not even approved by doctors.

4.)	I chose this cartoon because I think it shows how important it is that every detail of a company is top notch. If corners are cut, then a trashy vibe is emitted from the company that is not desirable.
