Really made me thankful for the community I have here in LA and across our churches :)

I was really inspired by Joe Hwang's sharing when he talked about how he was able to have fellowship with not only older brothers who had discipled him, but also with younger brothers whom he himself had discipled. It was a really clear picture of the church when people decide to commit to the church and one another through thick and thin. I could sense the camraderie built on many years of living out Christian life together!

I was most inspired by Josh Wang's sharing about looking back to his freshman year, hanging out at the beach with Joe Hwang. He never would have imagined that 18 years later they would both be serving together and laboring at JP! But God allows us to stay relationally connected through the church when each of us decides to throw our lots in with each other. Though his sharing, I really got to see how giving up my own self-centered freedom for obligation to a community/covenantal relationships is such a blessing! I hope I can look back many decades from now at my own peers and experience the same amazement at how long our relationships have endured.

As we all go through this time where we experience lack and weakness, encouraged me that we really need to strengthen our bonds to get through this together. Think we're used to SIP in some sense, but want to fight being siloed and continue deepening our connection and concretely drawing strength from each other.

Thought how this is so true of Christian life - that as we do it together & carry each other's burdens and keep committing to loving one another, that the challenges of ministry, building the church & sharing the gospel don't seem so daunting anymore. Thankful for the community God's placed me in & want to keep investing in our relationships & strengthening those so that God can use us to build His church that can be the life-giving vehicle through which the gates of hell cannot prevail!

He could have easily given up on the tasks, but because he had the support of others, he had enough grit to move forward. This reminds me that I need the community of the church to help me move forward. I wanted to cherish those words and live it out as well.

That I would have given up so much earlier, but being with the body, we are able to go through the hardship of life and that makes life more enjoyable to get through. The flavor of their relationships that came from going through thick and thin together, and arriving at this picture of brotherhood where people can come together, just as they are, without masks and genuinely considering one another as brothers... I think that's something that is very encouraging to me. On the one hand there is teaching on relationships - the reasons for them being important, the reasons for the necessity of being saved into the body of Christ, the need for people in order to even live out the commands of Christ... but I think to be able to sort of get a taste of what these relationships formed around Christ, I think that is very encouraging especially since sometimes in the middle of things it can feel like relationships are so difficult and not sure what they are going to lead to. But to see this kind of life lived out, as ordinary men gathering around Christ, that's really encouraging.

Joe Hwang's sharing reminded me that beyond just being a nice thing to have, the church body is what I actually need and how God designed my life to be in. This gives me even greater motivation to be faithful in doing God's will and build up the church and our relationships.

Isaiah's sharing from the video, that we're part of a church where the oldest ones are the best and the hardest working... thankful to be a part of a church with so many older spiritual role models that I get to imitate and join alongside. thankful for the time with a lot of the people who ministered to me, to be a part of that group now after all of these years

Inspired by Josh Wang's sharing, specifically the picture of close, gospel-centric relationships and how having a reunion after years of colaboring together and bearing one another's burdens felt like a reunion of spiritual veterans after being engaged in spiritual warfare together. Felt inspired to carry on in Christian life alongside others seeking to build up God's kingdom and allowing such relationships to be forged through the fires of spiritual warfare.
