I start by reading the script, the few seconds in the beginning of the ride where anticipation is prevalent. Then, by the time I creep up on the first peak, I have built and defined my concept statement. As the rollercoaster soars into it's downward descent, I'm in the developing aspect of my design. It isn't a straight path and there are countless loops where I have to backtrack and refine my work before moving forward. Finally, I reach the homestretch, the delivery  as the train creeps back towards its resting position.

It wouldn't be as impactful if performers were acting in the dark or without the little details of their costumes, but as these elements come together they become more meaningful. In order to make my music intake well rounded, so that I can have more ideas for future projects, I listen to a new album every few days, attempting to pull them from different genres. However, sometimes your vision doesn't always match the overall aim of the project and it isn't something that works or is practical. Having collaborators who will kindly help refocus your efforts in the right direction is extremely necessary. At first, I thought it was a silly assignment, but I quickly realized that this reflection is essential. It is impossible to fully and emotionally invest yourself in art if you don't know what you stand for or value. It was expected of me from a very young age that I would get a practical job and receive a reasonable salary. There was only one person in my family that deviated from this lifestyle; my free spirited aunt, Kristin. Kristin pursued art. Kristin was the one who when everybody else said to major in law or nursing, told me to create.
