While in middle school I decided I wanted to build my own computer. It required a lot of research, collaboration, and planning to make it happen. I budgeted and came up with new ways to make extra money. I used different medias to do the planning and research and after about a year of work the journey was complete. I must have done a good job because with minimal maintenance the computer still runs perfectly fine today.

I am so thankful that COVID waited into the second semester of my sophomore year before closing down all the schools. I would have missed out on ever knowing that this book existed. Never before in my life had I had a reaction to a book like I did with this one. The contents of the book kept me up at night and led me to do more research about this situation which in turn increased my global literacy.

Although I only earned the rank of Eagle Scout last year, I have been a part of scouting for my whole life. Between the years of 8th and 10th grade, I even served as the Senior Patrol Leader of my Boy Scout troop. The duties of this coveted office included: planning and leading weekly meetings, planning and leading outings and camping trips, sending out weekly emails to the scouts and parents, and more. It was a big responsibility but increased my literacy in many different areas.

In my 12th grade English 101 class I got to pick a piece of American Literature to read and analyze. It was the first time in a long time I had been able to pick what to read for a school activity. It was that little bit of freedom that made reading this book actually enjoyable for me. I typically read books slowly so having the whole first semester to get through made it a really pleasant experience for me.

I recently made the decision to increase my daily reading dosage from zero to at least 15 minutes. I figure if I cut my tiktok time in half and spend the other half reading I will be a much happier person. So far it has worked effectively. I'm about 2/3 of the way through The Hobbit. I am excited to finish that and also to read the books that are part of this semesters assigned reading.
