This paper adopts discourse analysis method. Critical discourse Analysis (CDA) is considered to be the most influential analysis in critical linguistics. It reveals the influence of ideology on discourse and the reaction of discourse on ideology by analyzing popular discourse. As the soul of news discourse, title is the concentration and summary of news content. It uses simple words to condense the most essence and the most noteworthy content in news reports.

For example, on the eve of the Chengdu Universiade, the Western media reported on China's air pollution:

"Pollution in China's Air Creates Concern About Chengdu Olympic Games"

From the term "concern", which has the function of categorization, we can see that the

western mainstream media has implied the skepticism and incitement towards China's hosting of the Olympic Games. Rather than seeing China's efforts and progress toward successfully hosting the Olympic Games objectively, the Western media magnified the problems faced by China to incite other competing countries to worry about China's competition environment, which in turn would have a negative impact on China.

"Chengdu's Olympic Quest: Turn Smoggy Sky Blue"

Smoggy" means "filled with smoke". In this headline of The New York Times, the author uses the adjective "smoggy", which is obviously against the principle of objective and fair reporting, and the mimetic environment constructed by the author leaves a bad impression on the athletes who have never been to China.

Conclusion

On the whole, the media coverage of the Chengdu Universiade has presented a mixed picture, which not only contains the expectation and affirmation of China's hosting of a major sports event, but also reflects the concern and criticism of the problems and influences in the preparation process of the event. In the media reports of different countries, due to different cultural backgrounds and political positions, their content and angles are also different. Some media may put too much emphasis on China's political color and ideology, while ignoring the significance and value of the Universiade itself. Therefore, the media of all countries should report the Universiade objectively and impartially, pay attention to the athletes' performance and sportsmanship, and avoid excessive politicization and ideology.
