The Caspian Sea is a beautiful blue color that I do not see very often. In bodies of water surrounding the U.S., the color is much more dull. I selected this image as there is a contrast between the beautiful blue color and the oil rigs destroying the natural environment.

This image shows the architecture style in Yemen. The buildings have a similar layout, color, and shape. I chose this image as it shows a lot of different things: the architecture and what I assume to be mountains in the background.

Medina

This image shows the Masjid al-Nabawi or the Prophet's Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. I chose this image as I found it interesting that Prophet Muhammad's tomb is in the mosque.

Zagros Mountains

This image depicts the natural beauty of the Zagros Mountains. I chose this image as I didn't expect there to be so much green within the mountain range. I thought it would be more dry and sand colored.

Algeria

This image shows the terrain in Algeria and how communities have adopted to the difficult terrain in the area. By difficult, I mean that the terrain is not flat and even, but rather downward sloping and vertical. I chose this image as the terrain is very different from what I've seen in the U.S.

This image depicts the Great Mosque of Kufa, the largest mosque in the city. I chose this image as it is really interesting how colorful and grand the mosque is compared to the other buildings in the background. It shows how important the mosque is to the people of Iraq.

This image depicts a vegetable market in Irbid. I chose this image as I found it interesting that in 2019 a vegetable market project was started to develop the area and provide healthy food sources.

This image depicts Mutrah Souq, a popular market in Oman. I chose this image as a variety of things are sold including clothing, spices, goods, and antiques. I also found it interesting that the ceiling is made wood.

This image shows spices and other goods at a market in Fez, Morocco. I chose this image as the colors of the spices are vibrant and beautiful. I am also very curious what the basket of circular objects are at the bottom right corner of the image.
