Scenario:

A neighboring EU country is hit by a natural disaster. Refugees are being relocated to your town.

Your school is asked to organize a welcome event.

Our group discussed the value of solidarity. If refugees arrived in our town after a disaster, we would organize a welcome event at school with food, music, and games. We’d also collect donations and create welcome posters.

Solidarity is important today because it brings people together in difficult times. We saw this in our school when we helped Ukrainian families with donations and support.

Scenario:

A student in your school is bullied for their ethnicity and religious clothing. The school hasn’t taken strong action yet.

What would you do?

Address the bullying immediately by reporting it to the school administration, ensuring the student is supported and feels safe.

Raise awareness by organizing workshops and discussions on diversity, inclusion, and human rights, inviting community leaders or speakers from relevant organizations.

Launch a peer support group where students can share experiences and promote understanding.

Advocate for a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination and bullying, pushing for the school to implement stricter guidelines and training for staff.

How is this value important today?

Human rights protect the dignity and equality of all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or background. In a diverse world, respecting human rights is vital for combating discrimination, fostering inclusion, and ensuring everyone feels safe and valued in their communities.

Our school values diversity, as seen in past cultural celebration events or discussions on global issues. This situation is an opportunity to reinforce those values by addressing intolerance directly and creating a lasting culture of respect.

Value: ⚖️ Rule of Law

Scenario:

Dear Mayor,

I am writing to express my deep concern over recent reports that a local politician used public money for personal travel. While some dismiss this behavior as "common," I believe it undermines trust in our government and sets a harmful precedent. Public funds should be used responsibly, for community services, infrastructure, and programs that benefit all residents, not for personal gain.
If elected officials misuse taxpayer money, there must be immediate consequences, such as repayment of the misused funds and an independent audit to ensure transparency. Additionally, stricter oversight policies should be implemented to prevent future abuses.
Accountability in government is crucial for maintaining public trust. When leaders act unethically without consequences, it fosters cynicism and disengagement among citizens. In a time when many people already feel disconnected from their leaders, we must demonstrate that integrity matters.
In my school, student council funds are carefully tracked to ensure they benefit all students—not just a select few. If a student leader misused those funds, there would be consequences. Our local government should hold itself to the same standard.
A campaign pushing for transparent spending reports, citizen oversight committees, and consequences for misuse of public funds.

What would you do? 

We would talk with the head teachers and with the student council to propose an idea for a day with sports and games suitable for everyone. They can play in groups or alone and it will involve adapted sports or inclusive games that everyone can enjoy.

How is this value important today?

Equality is one of the most essential values today. It is important, because equality fosters a socially inclusive environment where people live in harmony.

We think we can connect this with an inclusive sports day with fun activities and a variety of games for everyone or with a talent show where the students can show their skills and talents.

What would you do:

First we would help organize a peaceful petition and ask the school leaders for a student vote on the policy.

Secondly the school could organize more events about democracy to teach the students more about the topic.

How is this value important today?

This value is important because without democracy the peoples voices, opinions are not heard and without democracy there won't be a functional and healthy society.

Can you connect this to something in your school/community?

Student councils and class representatives are ways democracy already exists in schools this could be a real world example of why those roles matter.

-In our opinion we believe freedom of expression iis very important because it allows us to share our opinions without fear.

So to help the child we would try to explain from media social that this need to be more normalized to people.

Today, its more important than ever because we live in a world full of information and opinions.

In your school, sometimes students are afraid to speak in class or say something different. We could create a compaign to encourage free and respectful expression.
