When feedback is effective, it allows me to better reflect and reevaluate what I am doing in the classroom and how I am doing it. Problems or issues I face in the classroom will never get better if no one takes the time to address it with me. When I was a first year teacher, I was given feedback that my time frame with lessons was too long. I needed to better compact my teaching and work on giving a true mini-lesson to my students. This feedback was helpful and allowed me to reflect on my teaching habits, and become a more effective teacher as a result.

She would help me to grow and explore new and exciting ways to integrate new types of lessons. She was also instrumental in growing my confidence as a teacher. On the opposite end, my cooperating teacher never focused on my positives. She would constantly cut me down and tell me that she never saw me as a teacher. While this hindered me quite badly during my student teaching, I came out and this actually ended up motivating me to be the best that I could be my first year.

My cooperating teacher during my student teaching always gave me feedback. She tried to focus on the positive, but would tell me something I can work on. In meetings with my evaluator she would even take up for me and note the positive things I did, which really made me value her opinion. She was constructive and positive. She also modeled it well for me.

When feedback was effective, it helped me to feel more enabled instead of feeling discouraged. I think that is very important especially for young learners. Timely and pointed feedback also is important because it helped me to change and improve what I was doing right then.
