Analysis of Data & Graphs

As a huge baseball fan, I decided it would be fun to compare and look farther in depth to the MLB All-time Home-run List. I complied the list of 50 players who have the most home runs over the duration of a career. The man with the most, Barry Bonds has 762. I found that majority of the players on this list have approximately 430- 590 career home runs.

The list at the top of the page is ordered from most home runs in MLB history to 50th most. The most home runs goes to Barry Bonds with 762, and the least amount goes to Mike Piazza with 427, that is still a Hall of Fame career. The mean of the data calculated out to 525. The median was not too far off with 510. The Mean and Median numbers came out to be very close. The outlier here is Barry Bonds and Hank Aaron. They are first and second on the list and there is somewhat of a big gap until third place.

For my histogram, the data is in groups of 82 home runs from the list. I thought this was a good way of getting all the data without having many numbers and data. The grouping worked out well and the graphs are very easy to read.

From the Histogram and Line graph you are able to tell that majority of the data which in the peak is in the 400 - 500 range of home runs. The pie-graph shows the amount of home runs each player has hit. The pie-graph also shows that Barry Bonds is the one who has hit the most home runs and has the largest "chunk of the pie." The best graph to me that displays most of the information needed is the histogram. It shows the amount of players which are in certain category ranges which is really helpful.
