Representation: States with more population and states with less population were disagreeing on how much representatives each state has. Larger populated countries wanted to have more representatives for more population and smaller populated countries wanted the number of representatives to be equal. So they made a compromise called the Great Compromise which made it so that there were two legislature branches: the Senate and the House of Representatives. The amount of representatives for the Senate was equal and amount for the House of Representatives was based on population (1 representative for every 40,000 people).

Counting of Population: Southern states were disagreeing with the Northern states about if slaves count in the population. Southern states had many slaves so to get more representatives they wanted slaves to be counted. The Northern states argued that slaves had no rights and weren't citizens they shouldn't be considered part of the population. So they made a compromise called the Three Fifths Compromise which gave three representatives for every five slaves.

Slave Trade: The Southern states wanted to trade slaves as it was a right at that time. The Northern states argued that that was inhuman and slaves shouldn't be traded for other stuff. So they just said that slave trade be allowed for 20 more years and after that the Congress could regulate it.
