I chose this activity as a way to have middle schoolers step back from online learning and think about what they are greatful for during these times. ONline learning is definitely more challenging for some students and this would give them the opportunity to think about what and who they are thankful for even during these tough times.

I really like this Edutopia video about different hand signals to use during online ZOOM/GoogleMeet/etc. discussions to help keeps things flowing and uniform. I would definitely introduce these hand signals in my own online classroom and having this video for students to refer back to throuhgout the year. It would also provide students the opportunity to create their own as a class that we could use to make online discussions more stress free and as engaging as possible for both the students and myself.

This app sets and alarm for students that doesn't shut off until they take a picture of something specific. Students could set it so that they have to take a picture of something school related to help get them out of bed and ready to start a productive learning day.

This site helps motivate students in their writing by having them set a word goal to reach and once they reach that goal they get a picture of either a kitten, bunny, or puppy. This can help motivate students to keep writing even when they are feeling unmotivated during online learning (or even just everyday essay writing.)

I know when I was in high school and middle school I would watch Khan Academy videos to help me better understand the topics being taught. My brother has been struggling with his online learning situation so I have given him the links to some khan academy vidoes for him to watch. They may not relate exactly to the problems in the classroom but can help the overall understanding of a topic for each student.

This TedTalk by Lauera Vanderkam was given prior to online learning and COVID being such and integral part of schooling. I think it becomes even more relevent as students are faced with the struggles of balancing free time with school work. From the TEDTalk website "She offers a few practical strategies to help find more time for what matters to us, so we can 'build the lives we want in the time we've got'."

He works with his friend, Stressed Ninja, as he struggles with the online setting both emotionally and academically. I think this fun and easy read would engage students and let them know that what they're feeling about online learning is universal. There are other people struggling with the same issues and there are ways to work to overcome these problems.
