         <title>John Bell Hood</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Born: Owingsville, KY on June 29, 1831.<br>Died: New Orleans, LA on August 30, 1879<br>At age 22, Hood graduated from military school at West Point. He served in Texas and California for the U.S. cavalry for multiple years. In 1861, when the war started, Hood resigned and became a member of the Confederate Calvary. The next year, he was promoted to commander of a unit called Hood's Texas Brigade. The same year, he was promoted to major general as a result of his then admirable work at Sharpsburg and Fredricksburg. At the Battle of Gettysburg, Hood was severely injured in the arm. Following his intensive recovery, he lost a leg at Chickamauga. After intensive recovery,<br>Hood was promoted to lieutenant general. He was famous for aggressively conducting the rest of the Atlanta Campaign. In May 1865, Hood turned himself in to Union forces and lived with his wife for the remainder of his life.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Joshua Houston</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Born: 1822 in Marion, Alabama<br>Died: January 8, 1902 <br>In 1840, he became a slave of the most well- known man in Texas, Sam Houston. He served the Houston family in many ways, including helping them move. After the Civil War, he became one of Walker County's leading African American figures. He became famous as one of Houston's trusted slaves. After emancipation, he became successful in business and politics. Following this success, he founded multiple institutions. Due to his work, he became a symbol of racial autonomy. He faced struggles, like facing oppression for many years and the backlash post- emancipation.</div>]]></description>
