To be honest school used to scare me and make me feel vulnerable. As a result, there have been thousands of times that I asked myself the question above but after a long inner conversation and after hearing the audio I have understood the reasons why.

First of all, school helps us understand the world we live in by showing us what it has developed: maths, sciences, technology, history etc. Additionally, it makes us a part of that world by making us stronger with the knowledge and the qualities we are given: critical ability, confidence, problem solving skills and respect. It prepares us for our adulthood by creating a smaller simulation of it including all the necessary responisbilities to ensure that it will help us the most to gain a successful life.

Secondly, schools have become the most important form of socialisation for every student, no matter how old he is.
