When I was in Los Cabos, there was a Category 4 hurricane called Hurricane Odile. It was really scary because at first I didn't know what was happening. Also, they told us it was safe to go back to our rooms (we were in a hotel) and sleep in our beds, but apparently it wasn't because a window exploded on my brother and I. We had to sleep curled up on the bathroom floor for the rest of the night. When we went outside, it was shocking to see the damage. I saw many people's destroyed houses, and most of the area was in ruins. Luckily, there was a convenience store about two miles away, and we had to walk there for food when the hotel ran out of rations. Our friends and family back in San Diego were worried, since they had heard about the hurricane but didn't have any way to contact us and see if we were okay.

Bea: Wow that sounds really scary! Did any of you get hurt? Natalia: We got a few cuts and bruises from falling items/ breaking windows, but nothing major.

Sussan: That must have been terrifying. Like you guys didn't know what was going to happen!

About a year ago, my dad had picked me up from school after some heavy rains. An airport by our house had been flooded out, and there was lots of traffic, so my dad decided to take another route home. Luckily, we were in a taller car, so our motor wasn't damaged. We saw lots of people stuck in their cars in the middle of the roads who were surrounded by water and couldn't get out. There was tons of traffic, too. All of the streets looked like rivers. My dad thought we weren't going to make it home and would have to stop for a while at my mom's office, but we made it through the flood by driving on higher streets, and our motor was fine.
Claire Harutunian:
Glad you made it home! I like your descriptions!

When I was in Bermuda when I was about 4 1/2 there was an hurricane coming. It was called I remember being on the beach and it suddenly starting to rain very hard. When we turned on the TV, it was the top headline story in the country. We (my parents) released that are flight was in the evening that day, and that they would probably close the airport because of the wind before then. They made calls to the airport and after a while, they got us on to a flight back to San Diego. We were on the last flight out before they closed the airport. When we were taking off, the plane was going back and forth, and being blown around by the wind, which was scary. After we left, right as the main part of the hurricane was about to hit, the storm suddenly feared away. This was very lucky for everyone stuck there.

Scarlett: Woah! It sounds very scary, especially the airplane part. Why was it the top headline in the country if it was just raining very hard?

A few years ago when I was in Aspen-Snowmass there was snowstorm when I was skiing. I couldn't see someone about 4 or 5 ft. in front of me! Then I had to ski down the mountain and it was really scary because you couldn't see. Also, on our way to Aspen, my family's flight got delayed because of a snow storm, and we were stuck in Denver. Eventually, we got a flight to Eagle-Vail and then drove to Aspen from there. Now we do that every year.
