Horatio tells Hamlet about the ghost. Hamlet is mourning his father’s death and upset at his mother for marrying Claudius, King Hamlet’s brother. He tries to find the ghost and succeeds. The ghost tells him how Claudius killed him and how he wants Hamlet to avenge him.

Hamlet starts acting strange, causing Claudius to summon his two friends to spy on him. They think that Hamlet is in love with Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, the royal advisor. When they see her and Hamlet, however, they see him reject her.

A group of actors arrives, and Hamlet asks them to do a play he wrote, which contained a re-enactment of his father’s death. He makes sure Claudius and Gertrude, his mother, see the whole play. He watches Claudius’ reaction as the scene of his father’s death happens. Scared, Claudius exits and tries to pray.

Gertrude, upset, summons Hamlet, however, when Hamlet passes Claudius praying, he decides not to kill him yet. When he arrives at Gertrude’s room, he notices some noise and movement from behind the tapestry. He stabs it with his sword, assuming it was Claudius, while it was, in fact, Polonius. Polonius decided to hide in the Queen’s room to protect her in case Hamlet got aggressive. Polonius dies.

Hamlet is sent to England, but goes back to Denmark when he realizes that Claudius ordered him to be killed when he arrives. Instead, his two friends, Guildenstern and Rosencrantz are killed.

He arrives and passes a funeral procession for Ophelia, who drowned after the loss of her father. This makes him confront Laertes, her brother, and Claudius arranges a sword duel as he saw an opportunity to kill Hamlet off for good.

Before the duel, Laertes and Claudius rig the duel by poisoning Laertes’ sword and the wine in Hamlet’s cup to ensure Laertes’ victory and Hamlet’s death. However, the plan fails when Gertrude drinks the poisoned wine instead. The two opponents accidentally mix up the swords, causing both to be pricked with the poison from the sword. As they slowly die, Laertes explains that Claudius is responsible for the sword and the wine, causing Hamlet to kill Claudius with the poisoned sword and forcing him to ingest the poisoned wine. Laertes apologizes and forgives Hamlet for the death of his father and sister. Hamlet accepts and both men die.

After this, the Prince of Norway, Fortinbras, comes to Denmark to invade it. He sees Gertrude, Claudius, Hamlet, and Laertes, dead, and decides to claim the throne, making him the new King of Denmark.

The End.

_____________

Long version:

One late night in Denmark, the guards of Elsinore Castle encounter Prince Hamlet’s old schoolmate and friend, Horatio. The guards explain to him that they had seen a ghost who bore much resemblance to the late king, otherwise known as Hamlet’s father, who only recently died. Suddenly, the ghost pops up and Horatio hurries to tell Hamlet.

Following the death of the king, his brother Claudius jumps at the opportunity to marry his brother’s widowed wife, which meant that he was now the King of Denmark. Hamlet, still grieving his father’s untimely death, is upset that his mother Gertrude abandoned all loyalty to his father and married his uncle, so when he finds out about the Ghost, he wants to witness it with his own eyes.

Meanwhile, in another part of the castle, the royal advisor, Polonius, bids his son, Laertes, goodbye as he leaves for France. Laertes, concerned about the possibility that Hamlet may have feelings for his sister, Ophelia, cautions her to avoid Hamlet.

Hamlet finds the Ghost and realizes that it is, in fact, his father. The Ghost explains to Hamlet how he was assassinated by his own brother, King Claudius. Angered but slightly skeptical, Hamlet decides to see if his father is correct.

Subsequently, Hamlet pretends to go mad and acts oddly, causing Claudius and Polonius to spy on him, trying to find a reason for his strange behaviour. After witnessing him reject Ophelia, the two decide that it must be another reason and call for Hamlet’s old friends, Guildenstern, and Rosencrantz, to continue spying on him. As they arrive, so does another group, which happens to consist of traveling actors who are quite close to Hamlet. Shortly after the actors arrive, they agree to act out a play Hamlet wrote, which contains a re-enactment of his father’s death, with Claudius being portrayed as the murderer.

Hamlet ensures that Claudius and his mother have a clear view of the whole play, and observes their reactions throughout it. When the scene of his father’s death finally comes, Hamlet watches very closely Claudius’s reaction. When Claudius realizes what the scene means, he’s very disturbed and exits the show, causing Hamlet to decide that he has, indeed, killed his father.

Hamlet is summoned by a very upset Queen Gertrude, and on the way, sees Claudius praying. Deciding that, if he were to kill Claudius now, he would only be sent to heaven, not hell, Hamlet reluctantly settles on killing him later.

Just before Hamlet arrives to confront his mother, Polonius, worried that Hamlet might cause harm to the Queen, hides behind a tapestry to protect her, should he need to. When Hamlet enters the room, he notices some movement coming from the tapestry. Instinctively, he stabs the tapestry and Polonius, unknowingly killing the advisor under the impression that he had attacked Claudius instead.

Claudius, scared that Hamlet might know his secret, sends him to England. During his journey to England, Hamlet realizes that Claudius will have him killed as soon as he steps foot there. He journeys back to Denmark by himself, leaving his two companions, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, to die in his place.

In the wake of her father’s death, all Ophelia has is devastating news. This is the last straw for her, and she drowns in a river. Shortly after this, Hamlet arrives and passes Horatio with a gravedigger, talking about life and death near Ophelia’s funeral procession. Hamlet realizes what happens and confronts Laertes, causing a sword duel to be arranged.

Claudius catches wind of the duel and decides to finally kill off Hamlet for good. He reaches out to Laertes and they conspire to ensure Hamlet’s death. In the end, they agree to use a sword with a poisoned tip, also deciding to poison his wine as a backup plan. Should Laertes lose, Hamlet would unassumingly drink his wine as a victory toast, poisoning and killing him quickly.

On the day of the duel, Hamlet swings and scores first. Then, Laertes strikes Hamlet, causing a scuffle. During the confusion, the two swords are switched by accident, causing Hamlet to bear Laertes’ sword instead. Hamlet hits Laertes with the poisoned tip, meaning that both men are now poisoned. At this moment, Gertrude picks up her son’s cup to drink. Claudius warns her not to drink, but Gertrude disobeys anyway and drinks the poisoned wine.

Gertrude cries out that she has been poisoned, while both Hamlet and Laertes are getting weaker as they die from the poison. Laertes weakly explains to Hamlet that it was Claudius who poisoned the sword and wine, fuelling Hamlet with fury. He takes the poisoned sword and stabs Claudius, then forces him to swallow the remaining poisoned wine.

After Claudius is finished, Laertes begs for forgiveness, at the same time forgiving Hamlet for Polonius’ and Ophelia’s death. Hamlet accepts, and the two men die. In the end, Hamlet, Claudius, Gertrude, and Laertes, are dead. After this tragic incident, the Prince of Norway, Fortinbras, arrives to invade Denmark. Before his death, Hamlet’s father slaughtered King Fortinbras, the father of Prince Fortinbras, causing Fortinbras to seek revenge. When he realizes Hamlet is dead, Horatio tells Fortinbras the whole truth. In the end, Fortinbras claims the throne and becomes the new king.

The End.

As a result, one daughter and one son from both families tried to end the conflict by marrying each other, but would lead them to both committing suicide

Paragraph 1-2 (Keefe) Beginning

In the beautiful city of Verona, Italy, there are 2 families named the Capulets and the Montagues. Until one day, both families burst into a long-standing brawl. The citizens look in fear with them only watching from the sidelines. But one daughter from the Capulets and one son from the Montagues did not engage in the fighting. They both saw their parents and relatives fighting against each other, which in their own minds were completely pointless and impractical.

After a while, Romeo saw that the Capulets were hosting a huge party, although they opposed the Capulets, Romeo and his best friend came to the party with some masks on, so they didn’t reveal that they are Montagues. Everything felt silent when Romeo looked across the ballroom feasting his eyes onto Juliet. It was love at first sight. Suddenly, Juliet notices Romeo and they both meet, with Romeo kissing Juliet’s hand. A sudden figure in the distance looked dead in Romeo’s eyes. It was Tybalt! “Its a Montague! Come 'ere you little rat!” he shouted, then Romeo ran away from the party, with Juliet watching silently.

Paragraph 3-4 (Ziho and Alvino) Climax

After they met at the party, Juliet was thinking about Romeo all night, sorrowing and whining that Romeo is a Montague. “Oh, Romeo why are you a Montague!” Juliet said in agony. Suddenly Romeo climbed on a vine at the Capulets house. Juliet was surprised that Romeo came to her house. Until then, they talked about getting married and they did exactly that. Besides the fact that their families hate each other, they still come up with the initiative to get married, but in secret.

The next day, Romeo and his best friend Mercuito suddenly meet with Tybalt in the middle of Verona. Tybalt still wants beef with Romeo because of the incident at the party but Romeo refuses to fight however his best friend, Mercuito defends Romeo, but as a result Mercuito fails to do so and passes out. Romeo avenged his best friend. In the end Tybalt died in Romeo’s hand. The Prince of Verona was furious and sends Romeo away. Then Juliet seeks help to Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrance gave Juliet a potion that will make her asleep for 2 whole days. Friar Lawrance sends Romeo the plan so he doesn’t panic but, he doesn’t receive the letter until he finds out about Juliet’s death. He was devastated. He went to buy some poison, then, he went to see Juliet and killed himself on the spot. It was too late, when Juliet woke up Romeo was found dead on the floor. Juliet was so depressed and decided to kill herself with Romeo’s sword.

Paragraph 5 (Gemma and Ziho) Ending/Conclusion

Soon after, the Montagues and the Capulets finds out that Romeo and Juliet are both dead. Both so sadden by the lost of their children, they both agree not to fight nor argue ever again.
