I liked how it was easy to express myself in this format. All I had to do was change a couple things -- the background and the words -- and the result was my own piece of art. The only difficult part was putting words in the appropriate spot, it was confusing what type of words I should've used.

Wikipedia's website looks rudimentary for the year 2023, but it is almost comforting that it looks the same way it did when I was young. The page is organized by featured articles, on this day, did you know, and current news. They layout of the page reminds me of a newspaper the way rectangular sections of text are placed next to each other.

I noticed the reference desk which I never knew about before, it is a really cool space where you can post questions for contributors to try and answer. I also really like the portals section. The talk a section relate the third pillar of Wikipedia that says Wikipedia is free for anyone to use, edit, and distribute, so the talk section allows anyone to give input on Wikipedia's content.

I took a look at the Chinese main page because that is the language I know best other than English (but that isn't saying much). The main page is a little more modern looking and it has the same content as the English one. The only surprising thing is that there was less China centered content than I expected.

Interview with Simon

a. Describe what this website is.
It is academic because of the person reading stacks of papers. I like the tabs. My first thought are why, what was the past situation and how you would fix it.
b. Is it clear and intuitive what you’re going to find here?
Yeah the tabs are clearly labeled and easy to find. Its simple and organized.
c. What could make this website more engaging?
A moving image or a GIF could make it more engaging instead of a still image. More icons and stuff next to the title because it is kind of blank.
d. What could make this website more usable?
For older people who don’t have as good vision, the section tabs could be bigger. When you open something have a legend showing where the previous sections are. Sort of like a table of contents. His grandparents often struggle with getting back to different sections of the website.

Next steps:
I really liked Simon's advice on adding a moving image or GIF instead of a still photo. I think having a dynamic element like that will make the website more engaging and interesting. Also, what he said about his grandparents navigating websites was very insightful. I think I will edit the website to have a sidebar instead of top bar to represent the sections and clearly highlight which section you are in. I also want to further customize the aesthetic to make it look nicer.
