This scene follows after Archies Dad had just come out of an operations after being shot by the Black Hood. Archie is very shaken up by this situation and it trying to hide his emotions from Veronica. He pushes her away and wants her to leave but Veronica stays to support Archie even though she his hurt by him trying to push her away.

At first they all turn it done but then Nick raise his voice and pressures Veronica into taking one. Then everyone else process to take the drugs except for Betty who leaves.

He then takes the steps to become a serpent and conforms to their rules, even though in episodes before hand he was very against them he really wants to be apart of the gang. He had betrayed the Serpents and when they found out the truth gang leader FP asked what they should do with him. Jughead suggests they should 'strip him of his skin' (exile him from the group) so they had a group vote. In prior training sessions Archie had been beaten every time which he found frustrating as he is trying to impress his girlfriend Veronica and her father by doing well at the sport. By day his is a normal high school teacher who is against drugs and by night he is behind the production of one of the most dangerous drugs in Riverdale.
