How might a sense of immortality be related to Dickinson's speaking of poetry as a "letter to the World"?

In this poem, Dickinson "writes a letter to the World". This is a way she can express her message and what she heard from "Nature". Through her writing, she can share her ideas and they would live forever as long as others pass on her words. Her works are immortal, and she is hoping that the "World" accepts her ideas.

In "This is my letter to the World," where does the speaker get her "News"(Line 3)?

In the poem, the speaker seems to get her news from the god or mother nature. The new can be what the speaker believe in or think that what he or she believes in and follow. It is important for her because no one really knows exactly what is right to believe and commit to when dealing with certain things.

Are there any symbols? What do they mean? Are they universal symbols or do they arise from the context of the poem?

The symbol of the "News that Nature told", refers to the life lessons that Dickinson learned throughout her experiences. She learned that life ends eventually, and that people should live life to the fullest.

What is the poem’s tone? Which words reveal this tone? Is the poem ironic?

The poem has a soft tone that talks about the message of life. The words that reveals this tone could be "With tender Majesty". By using the word tender, it gives off a soft and gentle feeling. The poem does not seem to be ironic, but want to deliver a message about life.
