I have worked in many types of centers from state funded centers, federally funded centers, and private centers. I went back to school to finish the little I had left to complete my Bachelor’s Degree and accomplished that last summer. I decided to continue at Pacific Oaks and work on achieving a Master’s Degree. I am currently starting my second semester in the M.A. Program and learning so much and enjoying myself.   ]]> 2018-01-10 20:10:34 UTC https://padlet.com/lurdesparra/bnaar0co556h/wish/220374807 lurdesparra https://padlet.com/lurdesparra/bnaar0co556h/wish/220380431 I have always wanted to start and open my own center, but it seems very intimidating. 4 years ago, I decided to start with taking a smaller leap first and opened my own large family home preschool and daycare. It was very rough and stressful at the beginning, but am happy to report that is has been quite successful and has kept me VERY busy! We have partnerships with Early Head Start and Migrant Head Start as well as our county’s subsidy child care program. This whole process has taught me so much about the child care business as well as family child care homes. I still want to work on opining a center, but that will be the next project as soon as I am done tackling this M.A. Degree. For now Little Pathways Preschool and Daycare is doing great!

We have a large group of cousins and friends that are very close, almost all in our thirties and no children (the aunts are not too happy about that, they all want grandchildren hehehe!). We know children will come for us in the future, but for now we are happy with enjoying are time together, with our pets, and football! We are BIG San Francisco 49er fans!! We are busy during football season playing fantasy football, watching games, going to games, and traveling for games.

I currently live in the Central Valley were my parents and some family live now. I purchased my first home here 5 years ago and moved in 4 years ago to start the large family home preschool and daycare. This area is much smaller then the Bay Area, but it is a nice small town that is very welcoming and I am glad I get to be apart of it and do my part as a small business owner in the community.
