For example, they don't really get to have their own creative names, they aren't allowed to speak to other people in other areas of work, and they also are set with very strict boundaries to what is okay and to what is not okay based on what the council would approve of so they can't and won't make bad decisions. </div>]]></description>

Whenever Equality catches himself thinking things that is considered a sin, such as when he made up the name the Golden One , he knows that it is a crime and he shouldn't do it since it shows that he has individual thoughts about another person. The use of no real names shows that his society is trained to have a lack of self.</div>]]></description>

He and the others in the story have no self proclaim and only see themselves as a whole, functioning unit. They do not believe in the power of an individual and function as a group, them and their brothers and sisters together. No self pronouns are used and it is viewed as selfish when one thinks of them-self or another more than the entirety, all of them. </div>]]></description>
