Weymouth is a seaside town in Dorset. Situated on the Jurassic coast, it offers up a mix of history, nature and waterfront to its residents and visitors. Popular attractions include the Nothe Fort, Sandsfoot and Portland castles, and a Sealife Centre. Personally, I prefer Weymouth in the warmer months. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes to explore and swimming in the sea is free (not the parking … that is ridiculously expensive!)

I would recommend visiting Tees barrage and going for a walk along the riverside, where you can have a sit down and food and drink at the Talpore, a pub that has a family-friendly chilled vibe and there's always loads of dogs!

Sutton Park is my substitute for proper countryside. It's an absolute gem and large enough to swallow all the visitors it gets so that it's always possible to find somewhere quiet and away from the crowds of Birmingham. It hosts one of the best Parkruns in the country too if you like running single loop courses.
