I'd define design as a user friendly means to achieve a goal. By user friendly, I mean it shoud be easy and engaging for the target audience to navigate. For ex. in a classroom setting, the students and teachers must find it easy to manouvre. We cannot have the technology take over content. It is important that good design should be a mix of creativity and engineering because the creativity will compel the student to go out of the box and push to the limits. While, the engineering and logical design encourages sequential and emperical faculties in learners. Good design (especially isntructional) should have a back up. For example, what if the technology crashes? How can we overcome that without disturbing instruction? Design should be created with the aim of making instruction seamless and hassel free.
