         <description><![CDATA[<div>Myanmar traditional Harp is an<strong> </strong>arched harp used in traditional Burmese music. And Burmese people call it "Saung"<br><br>Myanmar traditional Harp may have been made in<strong> </strong>500 AD<strong> </strong>from southeastern India, based on archaeological evidence.<br><br>The harp is played by sitting on the floor with the body in the lap, and the arch on the left. The strings are plucked with the right hand fingers from the outside. The left hand is used to dampen the strings to promote clarity and produce staccato notes.<br><br>The harp is usually played in the chamber music of the Royal Court.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Saung was made in 8th century.To play the Saung-gauk, you hold it on your lap with its neck pointing forward. Music is produced by plucking the strings with the thumb and first finger of the right hand, while the left thumb presses against the strings to raise their pitch. The saung-gauk usually accompanies songs.The elegant boat-shaped harp is partly made from<strong> hollowed hardwood</strong>, and the graceful arching neck is made from the root of an acacia tree. The Saung was made in Myanmar. People been playing the Saung since 8th century. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Fact File: Xylophone [Pat-tala] (Moon, Shu Win Myat)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- The earliest extant mention of the<strong> pat-tala </strong>is in the Kalyani Inscriptions, which dates to CE 1479, followed by a reference in a treatise during the reign of Bayinnaung.<br>- The shape of the <strong>xylophone-type </strong>instrument is typically Burmese, as are the lacquer work and decoration.<br>- The <strong>pat-tala</strong> is consisting of 24 bamboo slats called ywet or asan suspended over a boat-shaped resonating chamber. <br>- It is played with two padded mallets. And it's tuned similar to the diatonic scale.<br>- In pre-colonial Burma, the <strong>pat-tala</strong> was used in royal court music.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
