Why do we have flags?

In this first encounter , kids started thinking about why flags were first originated. It was shown to them a a very brief video showing its origin.They conclude that flags were made to basically represent a place such a city, state and countries, or some institutions. After that kids were asked if they remember how was our city flag, thinking about their colors and its characteristics on it. Then some kids drew our Ponta Grossa's flag.

In this class, we debated about the mais features of the flags, what shapes could we find most of them. Kids could realized most of them are of the shape of rectangle. They found out about the use of some flags we can find in especific places or the ones they have seen once such as Pirate flag, Beach warning flags and also formula 1 flags. So each kid illustrated one example of the flags they remenbered.

Getting to know about Country flags and its features.

In this class encounter, kids could check their previous knowledge to check the country flags they already knew and learn new ones through recognizing the flags through a quiz game. After the game they would reproduce some flags using playdoughs.

The Beach flags can be rectangular in red, yellow, green, lilac and black and are placed near the lifeguard stations and indicate the general conditions of the beach.

kids got in two groups and were challenged to create a flag representing our class. So, in group they debated the ideas and firstly draw them. After that, kids voted for the best flag that represented the most our 1B01 class. Here is the winner one!
