I decided to go to China in Asia so I could visit the yellow river. I have seen pictures of the yellow river, and I have wanted to go ever since I laid eyes on that river. To start off I went to pack and basically packed my whole room. I got 7 pairs of shorts and shirts, my tennis shoes, flip-flops, under garments, 6 pairs of pajamas, a water-bottle, carry on backpack filled with snacks, and of course my phone for a camera! All of this was necessary for my trip because these were all things I needed for my trip, I grabbed a lot of money too just incase I see something I must have! I got so excited after I had finished packing! Once I was all packed and ready to go I grabbed my ticket to fly into Lanzhou, a city near the Yellow River. Out of all my ups and downs the plane ride was definitely the worst part, I’m not one to sit for a whole 23 hours! From what I could see from out my window, China looked all built on and full of color popping building! I couldn’t wait to start my day. Once I got to China, I started off with checking into my hotel getting a glance of how these people live. My plane ride was nice and steady thankfully and we all had a safe landing. That was the only good part about the plane, I did not enjoy sitting down for awhile so if you don’t like sitting down for a while and planes I don’t recommend going to China. The plane ride would have been a lot worse if I didn’t go with my friends Courtney, Ashley, Madison and Cayman, they made the plane ride a lot more entertaining! I got off the plane to go find my luggage and head out to my taxi. Once I hopped in the cab, the driver was very kind to me and pointed out some good places to eat and some of her favorite places to shop. I thanked her for everything she did and got my luggage out and went to check in. I got my room key and headed out to see where I could get something to eat. After I got off the plane I was starving and went right to a Chinese restaurant called “Mazilu Beef Noodles.” At the restaurant I got stir fry vegetables with noodles and miso soup. It was delicious; I think I’ll get that meal every time! Just like all the other people I had met, my waiter was always trying to help out and did whatever he could to please me, I could get used to that! I looked out my window and saw people walking and shopping down at a ton of cute boutiques or plain food markets on the side of the road. Today I was planning on just shopping, out of all the days I’m here, one has to be dedicated to getting souvenirs! I wanted to get some cultural souvenirs also to really remember my trip in Lanzhou. I first got dressed and went downstairs to the lobby to see what they had for breakfast. I got all dressed and ready to go and got my Chinese coins and dollars! They looked so different from American money; all of the dollars were colorful and had one of their past emperors on the dollar. Being my curious self, I was wondering who the emperor was and tried to look it up but Google was blocked! So I just went down to the elevator ready to start my day. I headed down to ask for directions to the nearest bathroom because it was very hard to read their writing, but only a few people who knew a little English could tell me, they all spoke a different language! Most of them spoke Cantonese, one of the many different tones of Mandarin. After finally finding the bathroom, I looked around some stores to see what they had for sale. Most of the women wore red, which symbolized luck for them, and others wore kimonos with tons of different colors. I really loved al the kimonos I saw and wanted to buy them all! But I knew I shouldn't buy them all or I would run out of money! So I bought only one. I went in and out of quite a few stores but one of my favorites was Guangzhou Yumei Leather Company which was a store with a bunch of cool jewelry boxes! I ended up buying one that had a red rustic look in the background with a golden lock, two gold handles to carry it, and some gold flowers on the outside of the box for decoration. I got a good nights rest because I had a big day ahead of me! I planned to go kayaking through the Yellow river and visit another cool landmark, the waterwheel garden, just a few miles away from the river. Bright and early at 7 am in China and 6 pm in Florida, I got up and packed my bags for the yellow river. I grabbed my backpack filled with snacks and my water bottle for a drink just in case. I got into the cab and went straight to river. Right when I saw it I knew I had a fun day ahead of me, the river was stunning with a great view of wildlife and tons of other kayakers like me! My tour guide that I had for the whole trip, led me to my kayak and pushed me in the water where I was to start kayaking towards the flow of the Yellow River. It was absolutely beautiful, I couldn’t believe my eyes there were so many different trees and pretty rocks surrounding me I wanted to stay forever! I can’t even put into words how one of a kind and amazing this experience was kayaking through the one and only Yellow River and I recommend it for anyone and everyone ages 0-1,000! Once I got back from my trip, around the river, I traveled a few miles down to find the water wheel garden. Here were water wheels in every size you could imagine! I found the water wheels to be interesting because of the view you got in the picture. If you’re one to take Tumblr pictures this is your spot! I decided to visit the Terracotta warriors in Xian, China where I would stay for a night before my plane left. I had learned about the warriors in my school years and thought it would be really cool to see them in person. I think everyone should get to see the warriors at least once in their lifetime! Even if it takes you an hour plane ride to get there, I recommend it for everyone! Knowing the warriors were used to scare real warriors away from being in battle made them a lot more awesome! Also know that these statues had lasted more than 2,000 years was mind-blowing! If I were a solider back then I would have ran scared of all the fake warriors! My whole experience in China had been great so far but this really topped it off. I did love taking my selfies with the warriors, it made mu Instagram make so much better! Visiting the terracotta warriors made my day so much more exciting, but after a long day I was ready to get back to my hotel. Once I first got off the plane I knew I would enjoy my trip and I did. I loved seeing the warriors, the waterwheels, the Yellow River (also know as the Huang He River), and shopping around downtown Lanzhou in China. Reflecting back on the trip, I loved and it and would want to come back. But just like every other vacation I take I was ready to get home and get settled back into my regular American life. My life back at home was so different, between the food, styles, and way of life, I missed my American life! I really enjoyed this whole experience of being in China and think any age with any personality would like it too! The one thing I would complain about is the plane ride, I’m not one to sit and do nothing but other than that I loved this trip! Visiting China was such a great adventure and I can’t wait to do it again, when I come back next summer! The next time I’ll be planning to be a little more active and go to North Korea to see all the crazy styles! I’ll blog about that too when the time comes!
