My mother-in-law recently visited us in Dubai, and I offered her air fryer fries. While eating the fries, she inquired why they were different, and I informed her that I made them in an air fryer. When she heard my response, she immediately put the fries back on the plate and began asking, "How can you be so irresponsible?" Don't you know that air fryers are cancerous and that no one should use them?

I was taken aback by her attitude and immediately threw away all of my fries without thinking. But after a while, I began to question why, if these air fryers are so dangerous, they haven't been banned. While getting ready for the night, I decided that instead of throwing away my all-time favorite Ninja SP101, I should seek expert advice on the use of an air fryer.

I sat down at my laptop and Googled "Are Air Fryer Cancerous?" I read several answers, and none of them were positive. Then I studied more articles to prepare for my argument, which I had to give to my mother-in-law the next morning.

What I discovered from my investigation is summarized below:

Cancer is one of the world's deadliest diseases. It is thought to be caused by the chemical acrylamide. Acrylamide is an industrially produced chemical molecule (C3H5NO) that is used in products such as dyes, plastics, water treatment chemicals, and cosmetics. It occurs in foods as a result of a reaction between an amino acid (asparagine) and sugars (glucose, fructose) that are naturally present in foods, and it appears when some are cooked, fried, or toasted at high temperatures above 120°. Radiation, such as UV and gamma rays, are known to induce cancer in the body.

None of these are present in air fryers. The air fryer heats the food by circulating hot air over it. A heating element provides heat while a fan circulates hot air. This heating element does not produce cancer-causing radiation.

In fact, an air fryer can help you reduce your cancer risk in two ways.

To begin, cancer in fried meals can be reduced by drying them in a hot oven. Using an air fryer reduces the risk of cancer since it consumes less cooking oil.

Second, you can adjust the amount of heat that your meal receives by using an air fryer. This shortens the cooking time and keeps the food from becoming dark brown.

Concluding, I can confidently state that the fryer is absolutely safe for your health. People who are unfamiliar with air fryers may believe that cooking in one promotes cancer, but this is not the case.

If you've heard a similar misconception, please share your experience with me. I look forward to hearing from you in the comments section below.
