         <description><![CDATA[<div>For this lesson, I would set aside a chunk of time (circle time would be great) and I would guide the children through a short and simple meditation. Having the class take deep breathes in and out while the lights are dim or turned off, would facilitate in the re-centering of behavior and attitudes.&nbsp;Asking the children how they feel before and after the lesson would hopefully cue them into the positive effects of breathing deeply. When a child is feeling emotional in the classroom setting, this technique can be brought back. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>"Research suggests that an important part of effectively teaching emotional intelligence is modeling the five RULER skills for children (Jennings &amp; Greenberg 2009). One way to do this is by regularly checking in on the mood meter throughout the day."&nbsp;<br><br>This mood meter is bank of emotions all varying in severity and range (pictured below). This resource suggest that educators have their students check in with this measurement throughout the day. <br>Structuring the beginning of quiet time, independent work, etc, with a mood meter check in, would serve the students well as they are learning to check in with themselves emotionally.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
