This narrative report is my experience during the 3rd week of school (TLE109).

The activity we do is to critique a lesson plan with my seatmate Dimapingun, we are assign to critique lesson plan created by Salahodin. After the early dismissal we divided the question focus of our critique, each of us was responsible for analyzing the specific areas of the lesson plan. I critique the reference if it’s updated, I also checked if all the strategies written in the lesson plan are all used during the lesson and I am also Assigned to check if all the preliminary activities mentioned in the lesson plan are all used.

The lesson plan we critique was a great experience. It allowed me to apply critical thinking when evaluating a lesson plan. I learned the significance of using updated references in lesson plan, as well as ensuring that the teaching strategies are not only written but also executed effectively in the classroom.

During Week 1, which was also the first day of class, I was unfortunately absent. To catch up, I immediately asked my classmates about what happened during our first meeting. They told me that our instructor, Sir Nico, conducted an orientation about the course. He discussed important matters such as the course syllabus, the grading system, class expectations, and the general flow of our lessons for the whole semester.

For the week 2, we discussed about the Dale's Cone of Experience. It was developed by Edgar Dale. This explains how people retain information based on the different method of learning used. It suggests that people remember 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, and 90% of what they do. People remember more what they do (acting, teaching demonstration) than from passive ones ( hearing, reading).

Creating DLP

To be honest, I’m not exactly sure what week this activity falls under, but I still want to reflect on what happened. For this particular task, Sir Nico required us to create a Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP), and we were divided into groups. Our group was one of the last to be called, and we ended up having three members.

However, I wasn’t really able to contribute much to this activity. My groupmates didn’t let me help with the task, and I felt that maybe they were doubting my abilities or intelligence. I understand where they might be coming from, I know I’m not the most creative or smartest person in the class, but deep inside, I also believe that I am capable of making a DLP if I’m given the chance.

Another challenge I faced was that my groupmates always worked on the DLP during weekends, which made it even harder for me to participate or catch up with what they were doing. I felt left out most of the time, but I still chose to respect their decisions and support them from the sidelines.

Were assigned to explore Microsoft Word. I really enjoyed doing this activity, especially because our group leader was very fair and made sure everyone had an equal part in completing the task.

One of the reasons I enjoyed this task so much was that I discovered features in Microsoft Word that I wasn’t familiar with before. Through this activity, I learned a lot of new techniques that are not only useful for creating documents, but also very helpful for us as future teachers. I realized that Microsoft Word is more powerful than I thought.

We also explored Microsoft PowerPoint, which I really enjoyed the most. This activity helped me discover many features in PowerPoint that I didn’t know before. For example, I learned that you can add sounds to each slide to make the presentation more engaging. I also discovered how to use hyperlinks, which allow you to click on a word or image and be redirected to another slide within the presentation.

These features are very useful, especially for creating interactive and dynamic presentations. As a future teacher, I know that using PowerPoint effectively can help make lessons more interesting and easier for students to understand. Overall, I had so much fun doing this activity, and I gained new skills that I will definitely apply in my future teaching career.

UNIT_PLAN

Our final activity for this semester, as required by Sir Nico, was to create a Unit Plan. Among all the tasks we’ve done, this was by far the hardest activity I encountered. I wasn’t familiar with how to make a unit plan, and even my classmates found it challenging. We were all confused at first, but instead of giving up, we chose to help each other.

Whenever someone didn’t understand a part of the task, we asked questions and tried our best to explain things to one another. We relied heavily on the sample provided by Sir Nico, using it as a guide to understand the structure and requirements of a proper unit plan. Despite the stress and confusion, it became a valuable learning experience for all of us.

This activity tested not only our knowledge but also our patience, teamwork, and willingness to learn something new. Even though it was stressful, I feel proud that we pushed through and supported each other until we completed it.
