         <title>Sphinx</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Sphinx had a body of a lion a head of a woman and the wings of an eagle.</strong></div><div>What was the purpose of the Sphinx? The Sphinx guarded the entrance to the Greek city Thebes, and would ask 2 riddles if you got them wrong the Sphinx would kill you.  Nobody had gotten the riddle right so far until a clever man named Oedipus got the riddle correct, and not just one both of them. Because of this, the Sphinx killed itself by tearing itself apart and throwing itself off a cliff.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Minotaur</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Minotaur had the head of a bull and the body of a human. It  was the offspring of the Cretan Queen Pasiphaer. King Minos had two craftsman named <a href="https://www.ancient.eu/Daedalus/"><strong>Daedalus</strong></a> and Iracus build a huge maze, named the Labyrinth, to keep the giant monster imprisoned. The Minotaur was included in the myth of Theseus.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

Who ever looked at her, got turned into stone.  Medusa turned into a bad person. She would  bait innocent people into looking at her, and they would turn into stone. But one day she messed with the wrong guy, his name is Perseus. Medusa and </strong>Perseus <strong>got into a fight. Perseus won by cutting her head off, by looking at the reflection of his shield.</strong></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Furies</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Furies are flying creatures with sharp fangs. Furies are the goddesses of vengeance and retribution. They are concerned with homicide and offensives against the gods. For example, if you were a criminal and did something bad, you could get cursed by the furies with disease or death. I wouldn't want to get cursed by a Furie! The Furie was included in the myth Orstes.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Chimera</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Chimera is<strong> a fierce creature that is a combination of a goat, lion and a snake. The Chimera breaths fire out of its nose and can attack with its serpent's tail. The Chimera was known to terrorize the city of Corinth. Every night the Chimera would fly down and pick up livestock, or a random person it could find. There was no hope for the city until a strange man named Bellerphon arrived. He was there because he angered King Proteus in his court, and so Proteus sent him to his father in law, Lobates, with a secret message for him to kill Bellerphon. Lobates sent him to slay the Chimera,  knowing that no hero has ever succeeded and that most of them died. But instead, Bellerphon succeeded, killing the monster and saving the city.</strong></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Cyclops</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Cyclops is a giant one eyed creature. It would attack people and eat them, which an unlucky ship crew found out first hand. They got blown off course and landed onto a small island that neighbored another island with sheep on it. Odysseus, the captain, was starving and ordered his crew to go hunt the sheep. Once there, the crew found a cave with cheese in it. Before they could take it, the owner, a Cyclops, came home and ate most of them instead, except for a couple that outsmarted the Cyclops by getting him drunk. After that they put a large stick in his eye and blinded him. After that they escaped. The name of the myth was the cyclops cave.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Harpies</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> Harpies are p<strong>art female and part bird creatures. They are best known for delivering bad people to the  Furies. One of the myths they are in is The Harpies and Phineus. The myth is about a guy named </strong>Xanthus who told a lie to a famous hero named Achilles. Xanthus  said  that although Archilles  would survive a forthcoming battle, he would die soon afterward. This was a lie and because of this the gods blinded him and put him on an island to starve. Whenever he tried to eat  food, Harpies would snatch it.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

Paintings of the Griffins way back showed that they guarded Greek palaces and that they pulled the chariots of both Apollo and Nemesis. (There weren't any myths specifically about Griffins I could find.)</strong></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
