It exceeded my expectations. It was one of my first classic literature books and I my expectations were low with the book most likely being boring and confusing to read. However, the story is quite simple and easier to read as a classic literature books. I liked how the version I read had many translations at the bottom. The book uses many older words that some don't understand. It gives quick and short definitions of those words which helped me a lot. I didn't like the book because, of how difficult sometimes to understand what's going on and sometimes hard to differentiate whose point of view you are viewing.

- I emphasize many times with Tom throughout the book. He is mischievous and clever and is always causing trouble wherever he goes. But he does it for a reason: to be memorable. Everyone in his town knows him, because of the amount of mischief he caused. People know whether to trust or not trust him. I am also trying to memorable from trying to stay quiet. I don't talk nor cause mischief which causes some to remember me from my quietness.
- I think that, the story could've have gone differently if, Tom wasn't punished. He's punished many times throughout the book which somewhat shapes his personality as it causes it cleverness. But, if he wasn't, I think the book would focus on Tom as being entitled and spoiled rather than be disciplined (for the most part).
- I don't feel for Tom as much throughout the book sometimes. He's very extroverted and doesn't care what people think. He will say his mind even to his own parents and do what he wants not what other people what. I listen to everyone, and I never talk back. I'm introverted and care what others think about me and I try to not cause trouble unlike Tom.

The Swiss Family Robinson (Italic)

It was more of a window to me. I chose a window because, everything was different. The people were very different as if I was looking at a whole different world. Additionally, most of characters weren't realistic (in my opinion). The kids could talk almost as if they were English writers in the 19th century. They all talked different and did things very differently from what we do in modern day. Three examples why it's a window is, when Fritz and the father go out a lot. This is very different because, most people would go with the whole family or by themselves. Additionally, the father always picks Fritz who is the oldest son. This isn't realistic as most would just go as a group. Another example is, whenever the family talks together. They all talk differently using complex words and grammar some are able to say "incorrect." It makes the story different and harder to relate as we don't usually talk like that. My final example is, the time and location. The story is set in around the 1700s or 1800s. It is also set on an island. It's hard to relate to as, I'm looking from a view from someone being good at being resourceful and how old it is.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. A classic book written by Mark Twain. One of his most famous works. There are many characters from his family, to his classmates. There were many conflicts throughout the books with some being comical and others being serious. Tom is very extroverted and different than other main characters in other books. Most other books would have a large overarching conflict over one book or over many books. However, The Adventure of Tom Sawyer is a book with many conflicts with most of them lasting a couple of chapters.

I've learned as a reader, that I can read a large variety of books with different styles of writing and different genres. I've also learned that I'm more serious about reading than others. What I mean about being more serious is, I'm more formal. My goals back in September were: to be able to write book reports and read at least an hour a day. Not many students write book reports as most read for fun or for entertainment. But, I read for purpose and I'm more serious about reading.
