They may be neglectful or indifferent to their children's needs and may prioritize their own interests or responsibilities over-parenting

Consequences being that of natural cause and effect outcomes from their actions. Allow time to let things change as boundaries are put in place. Remain patient and persistent.

Characteristics:

*children do not have boundaries

*hard to manage a classroom when children end up doing what they want anyway

*no set expectations for the entirety of the class (special treatment for a child who tantrums when told no, for example)

*setting a boundary, but then giving in to the child who acts out/says they don't like the boundary

*inconsistent routine/expectations can lead to child/ren feeling unsafe

*possibly the child is looking for a reaction when they go against expectations?

*not a place where learning easily occurs

What does it look like?

*Can look like a child who takes over the classroom, and ignores all boundaries

*Can present as favoritism

*assistants or floaters can be permissive to avoid confrontation/tantrums from a child

*inconsistent routines in a classroom

Many of us come from different parenting styles. We sometimes find ourselves falling into the ways of the parenting style that we grew up with and have to take a second to reset.
We love the balance between kindness and firmness. "Freedom within limits"
High Expectations while also providing support to meet those expectations
Natural consequences-both good and bad
Making mistakes is okay and a way to learn-we need to model how to make mistakes and learn from them.
We may need to use more firmness with different situations, such as outings. Setting expectations before the outing is important and reinforcing those expectations in a kind but firm way is important.
Better relationships with the children!!
