2.  Arrange the kind of songs you will perform and depending on the age limit what kind of lyrics are appropriate for the audience you plan to attract and make this clear when promoting you event/ performance.

3. what ages does the venue allow as well, sometimes the decision may not be up to us. So its good to ask the venue what ages they accept.

Sound checking is a grey area, make sure the headline band gets to the venue first as they will need to sound check first. You then need to decide if every band can sound check, talk to your sound engineer, listen to what they say, if you have 5 bands and two hours till your doors open, there's no point in checking every 3 piece gtr bass drums rock band and still be sound checking when people walk in.

2. A space should be provided to place their stuff just in case the venue does not have a back stage area, maybe one of the seating sections could be reserved for performers, all will be decided on the night or the day of visitation.

Local theaters, cinemas, schools and function rooms are open to be rented. However, once you find it talk to the manager to make sure it's within their rules to hold a live event. Your best bet is to use a theater, as many theaters have the option of holding a seated or standing gig and already have a PA system and stage installed; this cuts costs.

With getting a venue its also about timing, when you book a venue, you want also consider the time scale of the day you book it and the day you will perform, its better to book a venue at least 2-3 months  away, so you have not only time to prepare but also time to promote the event or performance.

Things best to have are, a band/s, sound and light engineer, security, an MC. calculate the cost of hiring the bands and extra staff, if the venue has an in house P/A system including an engineer that is lucky and best to look out for as it can minimize your cost, for an MC you can ask a friend or someone you know or, you yourself can MC the night. 

2. Its good to have security, which is something to consider when hiring event staff and and getting bands.
 
3. When visiting other events you'll never know who you could meet, and remember everyone is good contact and this kind of networking can be put into good use for example you meet someone during the intermission and whilst talking to them you discover they are a blogger. this could come to good use during your own performance as you could have someone to blog about your performance and also use it as promotion for future events.

4. If each band does use their own kit, the gap between bands will go from 15 minutes to 25 and sound checks will be at least 5 minutes longer.

2.  organizing the gear they will use and setting that up and considering the mount of time each band will need to set up e.g. no bass player in first song but a bass player in the second. Soundchecks should be done to time everything and how long the event will take as a whole.

3.The most popular band last and the least popular, first. Pros: 

1. Close to the college and easy to find alongside easy access to public transport.

2. Back stage area along with venue layout/blueprint provided

3.  stores to run to during our break time was available along with the venues bar.

Cons:

1. the venue was a little compact and very intimate. Holding a variety of performances from Jazz In The round to spontanious plays such as 'Into The Woods'. Not only is The Cockpit Theatre close to the college, allowing us to have easy visitation of the venue and maintain direct communication;  they have never held a college performance by the Music Performance and Production course via city of westminister college, making us the first and giving us the honor of holding that legacy.

The Fringe theatre was designed by Edward Mendelsohn with the  auditorium being 8.5m high and 11m² with a retractable seating bank on all four sides. Each bank seats 60 people and the seat cushions and backrests can be removed to create alternative playing area. The stagemeasures 6.6m x 8.6m in thrust setting and 6.6m x 5.9m in-the-round. 

on their website they promote the event on the very first page making it clear of whats on for the month along with a notification section to keep people updated and notifys them when events are happening along with a reminder. in performances such as jazz in the round it creates a sense of  comfortability and allows the artists to each hold a presence onstage, like a piece of a puzzle which is the kind of feeling i want to give the audience and i would love to experience the comfortablity on stage that i saw on Monday 30th of April, i went with my class to watch 'Jazz in the Round' first hand and it was a very heartwarming experience, the cushions on the seating made the bad viewpoint bareable as i had to keep moving around to get a good view of specific performers, however as it was in the round it helped to see those who where faced in each corner/ section of the center auditorium. They promote their performances also by posters outside the venue so whoever comes to watch another event can see the performances they also hold there and possibly notice whats on in the following week.
