This story is an  inspiration for the law "Maria da Penha" that protects serveral women who suffers phychologically, physically and morally.
Today she is 73 years old and she is the leader in the fight for the women's rights.

On May 29th, 1983,she woke up with a noise. She couldn't  move, because she was shot. The police thought the suspect was her husband, but there were no proof. She became disabled, and she can't walk anymore. After a while her husband tried to kill her again .She was electrocuted in the shower.
