BOYS SOCIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR CHILD & ADOLESCENT

Dana Group Associates specialize in providing interactive psycho-educational groups focused on Social Skills Development. This group program is designed for children from elementary school to late adolescence, addressing both social and emotional concerns in a safe, supportive and structured environment. These programs are scheduled during the school year and in the summer. DGA Social Skills Groups run for 10 to 12 weeks, beginning in September, January and June. Typically, the group brings children and adolescents with an approximately two-year age span together once a week for sixty minutes.

Our Pscyho-Educational Social Skills Group is ideal for children and adolescents who have difficulty with self-esteem, attention span, impulse control, body concept and motivation. Our TMG volunteer mentors aim to make the settling-in and adjusting process a bit easier for newcomers to motherhood or Tokyo (or both!) by sharing their local knowledge and experience of everyday life in Tokyo as a mother. Our mentor program provides you with a helpful contact to help answer all those questions, or at least point you in the right direction.

Through the mentor program, existing TMG members meet, support and encourage new members in a more personalized way. Support can be provided face-to-face, over the phone and by email.

We also have Japanese-speaking mentors who can provide language support such as accompanying new mothers to the local supermarket or baby store to help decipher those labels.

Education and literacy are important factors in our society nowadays. With thousands of babies born every minute all over the world, parents are more concerned in feeding their family than sending their children to school.  Illiteracy is one of the crucial problems by the community along with poverty and hunger.

In 1998, Glen Peterson, a current professor of the University of British Columbia teaching social and cultural history released a book called The Power of Words: Literacy and Revolution in South China which depicts the shows the social and political history of the struggle for literacy in rural China from 1949 until 1994. In conclusion, the issue does not only exist in the modern times where there are billions of people in population and counting but also in the 20^th century when there are great expansion of schools and great success in the education sector.

Peterson’s group of analysts state that the book aim to show how China's revolutionary leaders conceived and promoted literacy in the countryside and how villagers made use of the literacy education and schools they were offered.

Rather than focusing narrowly on educational issues alone, Peterson examines the larger significance of P.R.C. literacy efforts by situating the literacy movement within the broad context of major themes and issues in the social and political history of post-1949 China. Following the recent trend toward regional and local history, this book focuses on the linguistically diverse, socially complex, and politically awkward southeastern coastal province of Guangdong. As well, Peterson conducted interviews with local officials and teachers in several Guangdong counties in 1988 and 1989.

According to a book review by Irving Epstein of the China Quarterly, “... it is to the author's credit that he is able to weave his discussion of different issues... into a coherent narrative that reinforces the importance of adding historical context to contemporary policy discussions. Furthermore, the primary source documentation that he has gathered from within Guangdong province is both significant and impressive. For all of these reasons, this volume is an important contribution to the field of Chinese education and should be of interest to historians, social scientists and comparative educators who work in this area.”

Peterson had just recently received a medal of recognition from the Indonesian Studies Society of Hong Kong held at Jakarta, Indonesia in April, 2014 for his most recent book, China and the Overseas Chinese. Peterson has been active in his teaching and writing career and there are expectations for more great books in the future. As for his life, he stated in an interview that he never had any complaints and had been living and studying until he is old enough to lift a pen.

CarpalTunnel Syndrome Symptoms

- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) – Drugslike ibuprofen and naproxen do not treat the underlying condition, but they canprovide relief from symptoms.

- Splinting – Splinting the wrist holds it still so that thenerve does not experience further irritation. Splinting is often performed atnight, to prevent noctural symptoms.

- Corticosteroid injections – Injecting the carpal tunnelwith a drug such as cortisone can reduce inflammation and swelling, thusrelieving pressure on the median nerve and alleviating symptoms.

SurgicalTreatment

Surgery may be necessary when symptoms persist even afternon-surgical methods have been attempted. During surgery, the doctor relievespressure on the median nerve by cutting the ligament that is pressing againstit.

Endoscopic surgery is often appropriate for carpal tunnelsyndrome. During this procedure, the doctor uses a camera and tiny incisions toview and operate on the joint. In some cases, the doctor may perform opensurgery, which uses a larger incision.

The bearer share immobilization system was introduced in Panama by means of Law 47 of 6th August 2013 and was substantially amended by Law 18 of 23rd April 2015. Luis Quiel of Mossack Fonseca shall review here the most important aspects of the custody system, as modified by the most recent amendments.

Entry into Force is Moved Forward

Companies that were formed before 4th May 2015 have up to 31st December 2015 to delete from their articles of incorporation  the possibility of issuing bearer shares or to deposit the bearer share certificates with an authorized custodian. The latter would require, either amending the articles of incorporation to expressly allow bearer shares under the custody system, or having such system approved in a board of directors minutes registered at the Public Registry.

If any company does not formally approve (before 31st December 2015) a decision to allow the immobilization of bearer share certificates, the bearer share certificates that it has issued shall be null and void by full right.

The deadline of 31st December 2015 applies only to companies formed before 4th May 2015. For bearer shares issued on or after 4th May 2015, the term expired on 4th August 2015.

Legal Consequences of Lack of Action

Articles of incorporation of companies that envisage the issuance of bearer shares and that have not been amended to provide for immobilization with authorized custodians (save if the decision was adopted through a board resolution duly registered at the Public Registry) will be deemed to have been amended by operation of law as of 1st January 2016. This will cause two important consequences for such companies: 1) bearer shares that are outstanding shall be irrevocably null and void, and 2) the company may not issue new bearer shares.

Immobilization or Custody System

To benefit from the bearer share custody system, certain requirements need to be complied with as follows:

1. Amendment of the articles of incorporation or registration of the decision of the corporation’s board of directors before 31st December 2015, so as to envisage bearer shares in custody according to the system created by Law 47 of 2013 and Law 18 of 2015.
2. Deposit of the bearer share certificates with an authorized custodian.
3. The authorized custodian shall require a sworn statement from the shareholder that includes information allowing due identification of the owner of the bearer shares and the corporation’s resident agent, including contact details.

The law provides for two kinds of authorized custodians: 1) local authorized custodians, and 2) foreign authorized custodians. The former may be banks holding a general license and trust companies authorized by the Panama Bank Superintendence (SBP―its initials in Spanish); brokerage houses and securities clearing houses authorized by the Securities Market Superintendence (SMV―its initials in Spanish); and attorneys at law certified as such by the Supreme Court of Justice.

Banks, trust companies, and financial intermediaries may be foreign authorized custodians if they hold a license for practicing their activities as set forth in jurisdictions that are members of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Money Laundering or are associated members that are registered with the SBP on a special register that the latter keeps to such end.

Rights over Certificates in Custody

The ownership of shares in custody may be transferred without need for the physical delivery of the certificates, provided that the owner advises the custodian that he/she has made the transfer and that the acquirer submits a sworn statement to the custodian that includes the required information (name and identification data, as well as contact data).

The law provides, likewise, for an interesting pledge system that allows the creation of such encumbrance on bearer shares in custody, by the owner merely giving notice to the authorized custodian whereby he/she advises the pledging of the shares as well as the lienholder’s full name, physical address, telephone number, and email address.

Lastly, a special inheritance disposition system has been created for bearer shares that allow owners to dispose mortis cause of their shares, without need for such shares to be the object of a probate process for their transfer upon the grantor’s death.

Conclusion

As Luis Quiel of Mossack Fonseca has outlined, as of 1st January 2016, bearer shares that are not regulated by the custody system in accordance with Law 47 of 2013, as amended by Law 18 of 2015, shall be irrevocably null and void by operation of law. It is important to take provisions in time and to make corporate decisions in accordance with the formalities set by the law. Otherwise, the legal and financial consequences of the annulment of the rights inherent to such bearer shares may be quite costly.

• Insurance coverage is one of the most critical aspects to consider when making a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. With most PPO’s, a potential patient needs to check to see if the orthopedic surgeon is on the preferred provider’s list. After receiving confirmation of being in the insurance provider’s network, a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon can be done.
• With some insurance companies, pre-authorization may be required before going to a consultation appointment.
• When talking to the orthopedic surgeon’s office, ask about co-pays, deductibles, and out of pocket costs associated with the consultation with the orthopedic surgeon.
• Discuss payment options, including credit card, cash, check, and debit card payments. As a potential patient, finding a way to pay for surgery without causing hardship should be arranged.

The Consultation Appointment

• When meeting with the orthopedic surgeon for the first time, arrive at the office early. The courteous staff will want paperwork filled out prior to going into the patient waiting room.
• Bring identification to verify patient’s name and address.
• Bring insurance card to help figure out the amount of coverage, out of pocket costs, co-pays, and deductibles.
• Bring copies of physical therapy sessions or write down all non-surgical approaches used in the past.
• If available, bring x-ray or MRI results from the primary care physician.
• Make a list of questions or concerns to discuss with the surgeon. By preparing a list ahead of time, all aspects of potential surgery can be discussed until the patient feels comfortable with the procedure.
